Botrytis	4 Tölzer Mühlfeldbräu Rum Barrel Aged Barley Wine Zu meinem 41sten Geburtstag will ich eine kleine Spezialität öffnen. Und wenn ich hier "klein" schreibe, dann meine ich vielleicht nur das 0,25l-Gebinde ... Optisch zeigt sich dieser Barley Wine etwas trübe und kräftig dunkelbraun mit orangefarbenen Reflexen. Die cremefarbene Schaumkrone hat sehr wenig Volumen und fällt rasch in sich zusammen. Aber das ist kein Kriterium für diesen Stil. Die Duftaromatik gestaltet sich sehr intensiv und komplex mit reichhaltigen Malzaromen, die von würzigem Honig, dunklen Karamellnoten, Kakao und Schokolade in eine dörrobstartige Charakteristik übergehen. Noten von überreifem bis gärendem gelben und roten Steinobst und Weintraube, aber auch Rosine, Dörrpflaume, die in eine schöne fruchtig-likörige Note übergehen und an Kirschsirup, Rotweinlikör, Rumtopf, Sherry und Portwein erinnert. Der Antrunk kommt gut spritzig, likörig-alkoholisch und reiffruchtig bis kräftig malzbetont. Das Mundgefühl ist sehr fein rezent und zeigt einen vollen Körper mit cremiger bis öliger Textur und einer leichten Alkoholwärme mit einer dezenten Schärfe. Die Aromatik zeigt Noten von dunklem Karamell, leichte Toffeenoten, einen Hauch von Kakao und gute Anklänge von Dörrobstnoten wie Rosine, Marille, Pflaume. Geimeinsam mit dem Alkohol gehen diese Aromen in Noten von Rumrosine, Rumpflaume, Sherry und Portwein über. Die Komplexität und Tiefe dieses Bieres ist durchaus beeindruckend und die Harmonie zwischen karamelligen bis dunklem Malz und den fruchtigen Noten kann schon überzeugen. Im Nachtrunk lösen sich die malzigen und fruchtigen Noten sehr langsam auf. Eine leicht alkoholische Wärme kommt hoch und hält noch lange an. Mein Fazit: Auch wenn es eine kleine Spezialität ist, ist es ein großes Bier - aber mit Potential. Das heißt, dass man dieses Bier unbedingt seine 6, 7 oder 8 Jahre gut lagern sollte. Dann wäre es definitiv weicher, runder und harmonischer, weniger spitz/scharf, die Fruchtnoten kämen besser hervor und es gäbe womöglich sogar die volle Puntezahl. Thursday, February 29, 2024
Fin	4 Tölzer Mühlfeldbräu Barrique Tripel Bottle consumed at the brewery Bad Tölz Thursday 23rd November 2023 after a walk around the town, weather cold but sunny. Pours dark brown with an off white actually light beige head. Fruity nose, barrel ageing noted, resembles a very strong Oud Bruin in some respects, the rum barrel has done some very interesting things here. Tart tangy and with a nice softness and a slow release boozy kick, I would never have guessed that the base beer was a Bock, the barrel ageing has changed it beyond all recognition. Great beer. Fin	3.9 Tölzer Mühlfeldbräu / Weyerbacher Brau Heist Bottle from a random cheese shop in Bad Tölz, (on the main shopping street) Saturday 7th January 2023 had this sat in Frank at Lenggrieser mountain Camping after a 25+km walk from Lenggries - Bad Tölz - Lenngries along the Isar listening to Craig Charles Funk and Soul show on 6Music. Pours dark brown hazy, with a mid sized off white head, a little banana toffee on the nose, malty with dark fruits and some caramel and dark sugars. Smooth a little light booziness but surprisingly easy drinking for the abv. This has stood up remarkably well to the ageing, it tastes great. Saturday, January 7, 2023

Pours dark gold, light orange hazy with a large white sticky head. Sweetness initially but then a nice punchy bitterness, soft moutheel, nice sweet orange, good beer. Saturday, January 7, 2023
Fin	3.9 Tölzer Mühlfeldbräu Rum Barrel Aged Barley Wine Bottle at Tölzer Mühlfeldbräu, Bad Tölz, Saturday 7th January 2023 after a 12km walk from Lenggries. Pours dark reddy brown with a large off white/light beige head. Sticky with toffee pudding, caramel and dark sugars, a little boozy but it's only a nip 25cl bottle which is cool. This pours reddish brown with an off white head, lots of caramel and toffee and a very soft carbonation, not so strong tasting, there is a little backend fruityness. Thursday, January 5, 2023
tontalus	2.5 Tölzer Mühlfeldbräu Helles (filtered) Das Bier riecht nach Mostkeller und Brot. Es ist gelb und klar. Die Schaumkrone ist gering, feinporig und fällt bald zusammen. Der Antrunk ist sehr brotig und getreidig, hat aber etwas unangenehme Gewürze. Insgesamt ist der Malz Körper schwach, was beim Abgang noch schwächer wird weil die Hopfen Bitterkeit den wässrigen Start nicht auffangen kann. Die Rezenz ist gut, kann mich hier aber nicht weiterhelfen. Am Gaumen bleibt leicht brotiger Geschmack zurück, der aber kaum nennenswert ist. Nice bready caramel nose with banana hints. Banana bread! Very nice flavor, fruity, decent bite of hop bitterness balancing the Bock sweetness. Quite a nice one despite being a wee bit expired. Aroma is roasted, bready and with hints of toffee and caramel as well a fruity notes, appel and plum. Light sweet taste, turns medium bitter with a good dry finish. Medium bodied and carbonated. Mouthfeel starts off a bit sparkling but tuna foamy and Taste is roasted, burned sugar, some fruit, apple, plum, and a hoppy herbal touch. Leaves a light bitter dry aftertaste. Friday, May 20, 2022

Taste is light to medium sweet with only a slight bitterness. Light to medium bodied and carbonated, sparkling and crisp mouthfeel. Flavor is also strongly grainy and bready just a hint of caramel. Pours amber with a little haze, white head. Soft moutheel, nice light smokiness throughout. Pours mid gold with a white head, there is a little haze. Loz thinks that the aroma is a little sweaty interestingly I get a bit of fruitiness but I get a little buttery edge in the mouth, this is just about ok but not great, fruity a little bit of a tang. Milder rezent, breit; nicht völlig kaschierter Alkohol (wobei die 7,4 % auch einen Doppelbock darstellen könnten). Im Abgang feine herbale Herbe mit kühlender Minze, etwas Tabak. - Origineller heller Bock, von traditioneller Machart und mit Tiefgang, dennoch etwas ausdruckslos im Malz, dafür reizvoll gehopft. The beer is pale golden with a slight haze. For me the best Helles I had in a while. Full in taste, not extremely sweet, nice grassy and malty long lasting taste.
