Honey's Brown Snout Cider
75cl bottle from The Original Cheddar Cheese Company shop, Cheddar. Drunk at our lodge in Cheddar. Pours a deep golden orange, lightly misty. Aroma of stewed apple. Gentle caramelised notes to taste with a light, lingering comforting woody warmth on the finish. Fine sparkle. Lovely brown snout showcase.

Honey's Apple Black
On tap from the brewer's own stall at the Chippenham Food and Drink Festival. Pinky-orange, light fizz. Tastes of weak Ribena. It's a little watery. Some dryness shows through from the cider. It's all just a bit half-hearted and limp. Meh, does nothing for me.

Honey's Midford Cider - Sparkling (Bottle)
Bottle from Scrattings this one at 5.9%. Clear gold, some spotted foam on top. Nose of apple core, then fruity apple juice, wood, light leather and musk. Taste is more mellow than expected with a nice fruity musky dry apple dominating. On the one hand the character/differing flavour notes are less than expected, but on the other, there is a great sessionability to it without lowering itself to supermarket blandness. Near medium bodied, nice sparkle to it, not overdone. I like it.

Gravity at the Old Green Tree, Bath. Light golden, hazy. Vinegar, some barnyard funk, along with the expected apple aroma. I like the taste, it's tart with a spirited bite and the fresh taste of apples. Unfortunately the aftertaste is pretty foul, almost garbage-y. Luckily it's short-lived although it doesn't entice me to take another sip. Not keen.

Honey's Midford Cider - Sparkling (Bottle)
The colour in the bottle is pleasant, and sits nicely in the glass with a ncie sparkle to it. On the nose, very slightly eggy with an otherwise apples and pears aroma. Taste - appley for sure, slightly farmyardy, on the dry side of medium; we felt we could taste aspartame or another sweetener, not sure, but it left a slightly off-putting taste on the finish. Reasonably well structured on the palate, but the flavour doesn't linger like I'd expect from a craft cider. Visiting Bath and trying the local ciders; to be honest felt this one let the side down a bit.

Honey's Midford Cider - Sparkling (Bottle)
Poured a nice mid yellow with medium carbonation. Nose is complex with apples, olives and bamboo shoots - very nice. Palate follows with complex flavours of bamboo shoots, olives and apple with a nice drying finish. Very refreshing. Lovely. This is a really great real cider, made from 100% farm-grown-apple juice, naturally sparkling, veryb refreshing with bundles of flavour. Highly recommended.

500ml bottle from Fire & Ice, Narberth. Pours cloudy gold. Stewed apple aroma. Taste is of course much rosier than the clear sparkling version with a much fuller texture and palette-filling bittersweet cider flavours. Right up my street this.

From a bag in a box at the Royal Oak summer beer festival, Bath July 2010. Deep, slightly hazy amber in colour. Plenty of fresh, dryish apple juice, with oak notes, a suggestion of honey and medium dry finish. A good cider from a tiny producer.

Cask @ The Raven, Bath. Bright orange, flat, with slight haze. Fresh apple aroma is pure and unadulterated apple must. Soft thick palate. Delicious apple and wood interplay. Off-dry and resinous. Playful with nice sweetness. Juicy. Satisfying.
