Marlpool Wolf IPA
Handpull cask at the Marlpool Brewey Alehouse, Marlpool. Mid-to dark brownish gold with a tiny ring of white head. Caramel, stone and tropical fruit, slightly medicinal aroma. Sweet taste with the stone fruit coming through, some Gritty malt, light suggestions of 1950s cough syrup. There's a nice lingering bitterness in the finish. All in all very drinkable.

Cask conditioned at the Steel City Beer Festival '19, Kelham Island Museum, Sheffield. Amber with white head. There is a farmy nose to this, chemical notes. Sweet caramel notes, thinnish, leafy maltiness. Just okay.

Cask handpump at The Burnt Pig, Ilkeston, Derbyshire, Saturday 22nd April 2017 in the company of Dad and Pauline. Pours deep copper, this is my second very traditional beer, however it’s a very decent effort, fruity and even a little juicy but very English, the bitterness is even very pleasant. I like this. Golden amber, clear, no head only a few bubbles
Aroma of light honey caramel, light orange
Taste of light caramel malts, soft citrus fruits, touch of orange, odd plasticy note which is a bit off putting, hint of manure
Palate - very soft carb to flat, thin to medium body, bit viscous texture. Finish light orange citrus fruit, digestive biscuit in the finish
Overall - Some odd flavours in there spoilt it for me

Cask handpull, The Crown, Beeston, Notts. Attractive, bright bronze with a fine white collar. This has an immediately surprising rauch-like feel to it; smoked malt balanced with finely sieved milk chocolate and hazelnut. Not a hint of hop- why should there be? Really lovely chew of peat, smoked bits of wood and chocolate aftertaste. Aroma more sulphurous, but it doesn’t detract. Really impressive effort from a new brewery.
