minutemat	3.7 Aldi Brasserie De Noir Biere Speciale (6.0% ABV) 75cl bottle as Brasserie DU noir 'Biére Speciale Cuvée Exceptionnelle' (Rhum Finish) 5.5% from Aldi Nantwich. Pours a clear amber, white froth. Distinct rum and caramel on the nose. Nice buttery fudge blending well with the caramel malt, lovely rum integration. Medium bodied, nicely balanced. LovibondPours23	3.6 Aldi Lock Ten Session IPA Surprisingly decent. Pours amber/orange with a clean white head. Claims to have multiple hops - it is hoppy and refreshing. I believe Marston's make it - it's better than other Marston's budget beers (thinking EPA) and to me, preferable to Hobgoblin Gold. At £3 per litre (£1.65 or so per pint) it's a bargain find which does rather well. Yes - why not. Quite sessionable, not quite 'craft' but close. Monday, April 8, 2024

The flavour is moderate sweet and bitter, with a smooth, toffee caramel malt, light floral, big woody hop bitter palate and a long bitter finish. Medium bodied with average to soft carbonation. The berry combination is about equal measure in taste, although there's nothing particularly strong in aroma. Comes across floral-herbal with a little bit of mustard involved. A lively lager with more to it than the normal too sweet (or too dry) nonsense. It's my go-to lager these days - on price and taste it's easily the best lager available in supermarkets. Some mild citrus and apricot with a light malt and pine that avoids that cardboard taste. Some decent bittering hops to be fair which helps give a crispness and has a light hop tingle in the finish.
