Hunsbury Magic
Cask conditioned handpump Wig & Pen Northampton 23/01/14. A golden coloured beer with an off-white head. The aroma is sweet and a bit creamy. Maybe honeyed or maybe defective. tastes sweet again and apply. Again honey notes. It’s not the intention I’m sure but this has fruit beer notes. Flawed.

Hunsbury Old Rooster
Cask conditioned handpump Wig & Pen Northampton 22/10/13. A dark dark brown coloured beer with a whitish head. Sweet and strong. Boozy. Good depp malts. A nice amount of warmth. Earthy hops. Good length of flavour. Shockingly tasty. I loved this. Next time I see John the Brewer I’ll tell him just how much I liked this.

Hunsbury Mel's Mild
Cask conditioned handpump Wig & Pen Northampton 08/05/12. A dark ruby coloured beer with an off-white head. Tobacco and husky grains in the nose. Chocolate and sweet and sour in the mouth. Husky again. A little watery. Hunsbury is very homebrewy but this is acceptable enough.

Hunsbury Best
Cask conditioned Handpump Wig & Pen Northampton. A light amber coloured beer with a white head and lace. A very ordinary bitter which has little aroma. Malty and grainy and lacking in hops. Entirely old fashioned. Nothing nasty, just very plain.

Hunsbury Copper
Cask conditioned gravity dispense Northants Beer Festival 2011. Hunsbury Craft Brewery is a one man set up, and that one man (John Margetts) is 79 years of age. He’s a good old boy but sadly this wasn’t a good old beer. It’s copper as you’d imagine with off-white bubbles. There is vinegary acidity in the nose and tart aceticness in the mouth. I didn’t finish my sample. It’s arguable whether we should have sold it but John tasted it himself on opening night and although he stated he was disappointed with it as it wasn’t quite right he certainly didn;t suggest it was wrong. Ach well. I’ll drink it again and hopefully it will be better.
