Notes from 24 May 2014. A bottle picked up from the brewery on my recent visit to Wales. A deep golden ale which when poured into a CAMRA pint glass has a good head. Brewed with Progress and Pioneer hops for bitterness, which balances the blend of malts well. A good bitter, one I'd have again.

Cask (Post & Telegraph, Brighton) (7:4:6:4:13=3.4) Sweet fruity hoppy aroma. Pale red, small tight head. Sweetish caramelly malts in the taste, bitter hopping quite pungent. Woolyish hints in the finish, and some jammy sickliness later.

Brecon Mind Bleach (-2019)
Bottle picked up by dad from Oakchurch, Staunton on Wye, Herefordshire and consumed at Spond, Herefordshire Sunday 14th July 2019. Pours hazy almost a little murky dark brown edging towards black with an off white head, I can see that this sits somewhere between an Imperial Stout and a Black IPA, however for me the fresh, clean, green hoppiness just about rules the roost over the roastiness. It's good, it doesn't taste 10%

Cask at GBBF '18, day 4, 10/08/18 thanks to the King of Malmo for the pour! Extremely dark mahogany brown with a decent beige covering. Nose is boozey, fruit cake, sweet malts, caramel, light pine dusting. Taste comprises sticky fruits, sweet malts, light spice, liqourice, boozey dance, treacle toffee, light pine. Full bodied, cloying feel, sweet and sticky rising boost in the close with a dusting of hops. Doesn't really come off on cask - a 10% CDA ! Fun enough sipper but a full pour of this one would soon become a chore.

2018-02-26. Brecon Bamboo (-2019)
Brewed with bamboo leaves, which I assume is what is giving off that weird smell. Pours with no head and looks (like most other Brecon brews - I’m seeing a trend here) like a home brew beer. The taste however is actually really nice. It is a smooth, easy drinking pale ale but with a strange aftertaste, that is like a strange mix of some sort of metallic botanical.

Brecon Three Beacons (-2019)
Super super hoppy, intense pine flavour. Reminds me of some of the Arbor brews. Fantastic hop profile, with a combination of American and British hops, which explode on your tongue and then… nothing. There is nothing to back it up, indicated by its ABV I suppose. Not a bad drink, it’s very nice, but it’s massively unbalanced.

Brecon Red Beacons (-2019)
Smooth hop flavour, which is long lasting and fairly complex. Dark red in colour, with a stable malt profile. Mouthfeel is overpowering carbonation - reminds me of when I went a bit crazy batch priming my home brew. Would love to try casked/kegged to avoid the masses of carbonation. Honestly, unsure if this was bad or good. How weird is that? 500ml bottle, gift from parents.

Brecon Orange Beacons (-2019)
Very strong, overpowering yeast flavour. Reminds me, as have other Brecon brews, of my own home brewing experiments. Saison made with fresh oranges sounds delicious but this was difficult to get through, I’ll be honest. I didn’t want to chuck it away, thinking if I gave it time it would perhaps reveal its secrets to me once I had become more adjusted. Unfortunately not. Heavily yeasty taste followed by a cutting citrus sharpness, but not in a good way. (PS: no mention of the word "Beacons" on the bottle)
