Barley Mow Selkie Rye Pale Ale
Growler shared during RBWG 2015 at Cafe on the Bayou. Pours unclear gold with a foamy, white head. Tasty, some pale bread, relaxed citrusy hops. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly oily finish, some pale cereal, citrus. Good overall.

Barley Mow Calliope Tart Cherry Wheat
Can. Light hay, grass and dried leaves, with just a hint of lemon. Head is small, wispy, slightly off-white, with no lacing and is fully diminishing. Color is hazy medium amber. Flavor starts lightly to moderately acidic, then finishes lightly acidic. Palate is light to medium, watery, with a lively carbonation and finishes lightly tart. Just okay, Radlers aren’t my thing but this one is drinkable.

Barley Mow Quackalope American IPA
pours amber brown with thin white head, good lacing. Very well balanced hop, typical citrus flavors but with an added melon element, almost papaya. A really really nice IPA that stands on its own at a time when everyone is trying to do the same thing. Never heard of barley mow, there are so many places popping up FL, hell even just in the Tampa Bay Area- I can’t even keep track anymore.

Barley Mow Quackalope American IPA
It pours dark golden with a white head that has good head retention with a decent amount of Belgian Lace. It has aromas of grapefruit, citrus, and floral. There is a biscuity backbone with grapefruit, citrus, and floral flavors. It has a moderate feel with a moderately bitter finish. The floral is what stands out in the aftertaste which is quite sharp with a slight bit of sweetness. Overall, this is balanced towards the hop with the initial flavor featuring the malt up front.

Barley Mow Maven
Canned, brought back from Florida. Pours a rich, dark brown beer with a creamy, medium sized brown head on top. Aroma is chocolate and lactose, hint of roast and caramel. Flavor is light, sweet and chocolate-ish, very creamy, softly carbonated and long in light sweet finish. Nice in balance, really soothing to drink and overall a decent, yet not too complex beer.

Barley Mow Grapefruit Pale Ale
Hazy golden pour with a single finger head. Lace sticking to the glass right away. Aroma is full of citrus, grapefruit for sure. Taste is loaded with grapefruit. Bitter, but there is a nice malt character that keeps the bitterness in check. Lots of flavor with lingering bitterness on the finish. Medium bodied.

Barley Mow Tampa Bay Beer Week Grapefruit Pale Ale
On draft at Independent. The pour is a darker golden orange color with a thicker white head and a fair bit of lace as it falls down. The aroma is lightly malty and quite bitter. There is a light hop and a hint of citrus zest behind it. The flavor is much of the same. The zest and bitterness are huge and the hops come through in a leaflet presence. The mouth feel is lighter and watery with a softer carbonation and a light lingering grapefruit bitterness on the back end. It’s decent, but could use some work.

Barley Mow Calliope Tart Cherry Wheat
Draft... Hazy straw-colored pour with pink highlights and a large, frothy, white head. Great lacework. The aroma is both grainy and mildly fruity. Light-bodied with a watery mouthfeel and lazy carbonation. The flavor borders on tart, but doesn’t quite get there. Barely fruity. Flat, lifeless finish. I expected much more.

Barley Mow Lord of the Gourd Pumpkin Porter
Bad can with one of those aggravating, sticky-out labels. Very dark brown, but not inky. Small, sticky, medium khaki head. Perfumy, spicy, soapy aroma - smells like someone was wrestling with a large Yankee Candle around Halloween or Thanksgiving. Nutmeg/allspice bitterness, lightly sweet, light roast. This is pretty one note. Goes flat, limp body. ABC Liquors, Betton.

Barley Mow Foolery
22 oz. bottle received in a trade with jcwattsrugger. I almost never drink a barley wine fresh. Yet here I am drinking a 2016 vintage. Murky Amber color with a brown hue. Aroma and flavor are text book barley wine.

Flavor of raisins, caramel dipped dates, tones of yeast. Fruity hints. The alcohol is covered nicely. (I am impressed how hidden it is) the mouthfeel is lightly oily with a sweet dried fruit finish. Body is medium and the correct level of carbonation. A nice surprise.
