notalush	4 Our Mutual Friend / Odell Pretty Sparks 10 ounce at OMF - hazy orange with thick, lasting lace - nose is lovely musky pineapple brett, juicy tropical fruit, pepper - haven’t smelled such a lovely brett smell in a while, honestly - medium body, soft carbonation - flavor is dry, moderately bitter, lightly dusty - brett rusticity followed by flinty mineral and moderate buggy funk - light tartness before a peppery finish - nice. Crisp semi dry and impeccably balanced flavor that’s got a nice grapefruit and floral resin, not too bitter, with a nice pale ale malty backbone that’s delicate but holds it own. Delish. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a smooth dry finish. Flavors of bread, fruitiness, light pine and light mustiness with a smooth dry moderately bitter lingering musty fruit finish. notalush	4 Our Mutual Friend Year Eleven 10 ounce at OMF - lightly hazy gold - faint soapy lace - surprisingly gentle nose of light herbs, honey, subtle oak and whiskey - flavor has an initial honey sweetness to it, but it’s actually surprisingly dry for the strength - light herbal notes, white wine grapes, baked apple, whiskey way in the background - finish gets a tiny bit of whiskey booze heft to it, but otherwise this is surprisingly delicate - nice. notalush	3.8 Our Mutual Friend Porch Pumpkin Pint can - billed as an imperial porter with pumpkin and vanilla - 8.1% - black pour - roasty and earthy nose - flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter, moderately roasty - roast and black malt create a coffee character, followed by a vanilla sweetness and an earthy toasted pumpkin finish - understated and fairly well-balanced, which is more than I can say for a lot of pumpkin beers. notalush	4 Our Mutual Friend Vanilla Thanatoid 2023 can from the brewery - “barrel-aged imperial stout with vanilla bean” - 15.2% - I think the two entries for this beer should be merged and simply called “Thanatoid” - viscous black pour - nose thick with vanilla, whiskey, maple, chocolate - thick, oily mouthfeel - quite sweet, heavy with vanilla and whiskey flavor - touches of smoke, chocolate, espresso - substantial warmth on the tail end - it’s a burly beer, for sure, but enjoyable as a slow sipper. notalush	4 Our Mutual Friend / Colorado Farm Big Soot 12 ounce can from the brewery - thick pour - dark ruby, nearly black - nose is intensely smoky, seriously meaty and woody, without much else breaking through - oily texture - highly sweet flavor, with the whiskey prominent up front - some dark fruit - a moderate acidity arrives late to try to balance, with mixed results - sharp finish that mellows as it warms - it’s when it hits room temp that things really balance out a bit - still a little boozy, but the acidity is a little more balanced - smokiness is intense, but melds into the whiskey character more - spicy rye whiskey finish - okay, I wasn’t sure at first, but I’m sold.
