Mad Horse Marzen
Serving: Draft at the brewery. It pours a nice amber color with a large light tan head. The nose is slightly fruity with slight butter notes. The flavor is very fruity, bitter, and full of diacetyl. Oily and heavy on the tongue. This is one messed up Marzen. No crispness and clearly has brewing flaws. The staff said this one fermented too warm yet they decided to serve it anyway. Wish they hadn’t.

Mad Horse Wet Hopped IPA
If I had to compare it to a pale ale or an IPA I would have a hard time. Its somewhere in between. But it sure is good. American IPA’s have a tendency to simply put a tons of hops in. Which simply over powers all the other tastes and overwhelms your mouth. I prefer IPA’s that use their hops more judicially as I think they have. It has a really nice taste without being over powering. Full bodied.

Mad Horse Hefrageous Hefeweizen
The aroma on this hef is great. Exactly what a hef should be. Not to weak, not to strong. Compared to mass produced hef’s... there is no comparison. This has a ton of clove/banana flavor. not to much. but a lot. This is another very easy drinker that would be great on a summer day.

Mad Horse Belgian Wit
Perfect definition of what a wit should be. This is my favorite beer at this place. The color is a little hazy but they don’t do any filtering. They nailed the aroma and taste by well balancing the coriander and orange. Frequently breweries get carried away and over power wits with orange but they did a great job with theirs. If you want a refreshing drink.... this is it.

Mad Horse Nut Brown Ale
This is an incredible nut brown. This is the best nut brown I have ever had and maybe the best beer I’ve ever had. I have been trying to make a nut brown myself for many years and haven’t been able to make one this good. Medium bodied. The nuttiness is nicely balanced and does not over power the typical smooth brown ale characteristics but adds enough flavor that it isn’t boring as a lot of the other mass produced brown ales.

Mad Horse Belgian Wit
Serving: Draft at the brewpub. It pours a hazy orange color with a slight white head. Light nose with slight yeast notes and a touch of coriander. The yeast and coriander notes get much more expressive in the flavor. Pretty straight forward Wit. A little undercarbonated and full bodied for the style, but not bad.

Mad Horse Belgian Ale
Serving: Draft at the brewpub. It pours a hazy yellow color with a stark white head. Light Belgian yeast and grass in the nose. Lots of bubblegum in the flavor with an odd earthy and mineral note. Light body with a fairly clean finish. Not much character. Reminds me of kit beer.

3.2
Mad Horse Wet Hopped IPA
Serving: Draft at the brewpub. It pours a hazy reddish orange color. The nose is very nutty with little hop expression. The taste is like a bitter nut brown with malt sweetness and the nut notes being dominant. Medium bodied with lower carbonation. This is no IPA. In speaking with the staff, they debated whether they should label this as an IPA or just a pale ale. This one doesn’t even qualify as an American pale ale. That being said, it’s still not a bad beer.

Mad Horse Nut Brown Ale
Serving: Draft at the brewpub. Here’s one you don’t have every day, a nice nut brown ale! It pours a dark brown with a small, light tan head. The nose is full of nuttiness and toasted malt. The flavor is true to style with lots of nuttiness, a touch of caramel, a slight bitterness, and a clean finish. Light to medium body. I rather enjoyed this one.

Mad Horse Hefrageous Hefeweizen
Serving: Draft at the brewpub. It pours a hazy yellow color with a stark white head. The nose has bit of banana and heavy clove. The flavor follows suit with the esters from the yeast being the predominant flavor, although somewhat lighter than in the nose. Oily texture with a medium body. Fairly true to style for a classic German hefe.

Mad Horse Light Lager
Serving: Draft at the brewpub. Their idea of a light lager looks similar to Sam Adams Light so I’m liking it more already. It pours a light amber color with a nice off white head. The nose is a bit nondescript. The flavor has light notes of caramel malt and a light lingering bitterness. Fairly clean on the finish. Like a slightly malted down amber ale. Still, it’s very drinkable and approachable.

Mad Horse Oatmeal Stout
Serving: Draft at the brewpub. It pours a muddy brown color with no head. The nose has heavy molasses notes. The flavor is a little sweet with notes of treacle, molasses, dark malt, brown sugar, flint, and earth. Definitely under carbonated, but still pretty tasty. Medium to full bodied. The person behind the bar seemed to think this keg didn’t get carbonated and that they would force carbonate it when they put it on tap.
