Grimross / Garrison / Breton / Quidi Vidi / Upstreet ECMA Pale Ale - Track 2: Fredericton
Pale straw-gold pour. Thick white head. Light haziness. The aroma is kind of odd. Onions and a bit sweaty smelling. There are some notable UK-type hops in here along with some fruitier new world varieties. A touch of diacetyl in the glass. This really doesn't come together for me.

473ml can @ home. CANBIF 2022 Spring, thanks darcyk. Pours a hazy honey copper colour with a small beige head. Nose is caramel, banana, Belgian yeast, and bread pudding. Flavour is caramel, banana bread, malty, and mild spices. Medium bodied, a touch low carbonation, and a mild sweetness with a mild boozy character. For a non-Belgian Abbey-style brew, it's quite nice.

473ml can @ home. CANBIF 2022 Spring, thanks CurtisD. Canned 220302. Pours a clear golden colour with a small white head. Nose is gentle floral hops, some hop resins, a biscuity malt, and a hint of citrus pith. Flavour is similar, mild floral hops upfront, then a grassy hop quality with hop resins, grapefruit pith, some earthiness, and a biscuity malt. Medium bodied, decent carbonation, and a there's an underlying sweetness but the pithy bitterness prevails. Different from the classic pine hop bomb, though still not my 'cup of hops'.

Pale straw. Herbal hop nose. Is that pedio? Something is very wrong here, and pedio seems the most likely culprit. I can't drink this.

Can. Golden colour, just a slight haze. Estery nose, pears, a bit sticky. It's about that on the palate, too. Leaning towards sweetness before a touch of apple and acidity comes in at the end. The esters are just below the point where I'm getting annoyed. Low bitterness.

Grimross Tmavy Pivo
Can. Very dark brown colour, and a fairly big head. The aroma has toasted malts and some dark sugars. Medium body, flavour leads with dark sugars, but the toasty notes come in towards the finish. So it has a couple of nice elements that work well together. Maybe lacks the richness of the better European ones, but it's definitely a solid dark lager.

Deep brown pour with a thin tan head. The aroma is nice and toasty. Brown malt, some cocoa and light molasses. There’s a soft sweetness and a touch of earthiness and light roast. Moderate bitterness but nicely integrated. Warming brings up a bit of tartness that probably shouldn’t be there. Earthy bitterness. Decent dunkel - but leaning to schwarzbier.

Can. The aroma seems sort of fudgey, maybe toasty. It's a fairly boozy little number. Big malts, too, leaning towards molasses, with a balancing bitterness. Definitely that toffee/molasses thing has me thinking doppelbock more than anything else. Doesn't offer the sort of big rounded sugars or complex flavours that might make it sing, however.

Grimross Hop Blonde
Pours a transparent, light yellow. Lots of hops on the nose. Taste is pine resin and bitter flowers which crowd out the malt. This lack of balance might work for hop fanatics looking for a lawnmower beer, but lack of fruit and more complex malt flavors is disappointing.

Grimross Tree Hugger Maple Ale
Pours a light brown with thin head. Scent of molasses and caramel. Taste is lightly roasted malts, medium caramel and a hint of maple. Maple/sweetness is fairly subdued, so properly balances out the malts without that sickly sweet flavor that some maple beers can have. A pretty decent brew overall.

(473ml can c/o my girlfriend, source unknown to me) Pours basically clear bright gold with an average white head. Notes of lemon, a bit of tart stone fruit, light esters, lots of cereals and fresh baked bread, some sulphur like in some pils, some phenols/herbs/dried flowers/white pepper axis notes through the sip into the finish. Light body with a slick texture and soft filling carbonation. Alright stuff with food, feels like a Belgian blonde as much as a saison but drinkable.

Creamy, with a classic c-hops aroma and flavour. A bit of dark fruit and biscuity malt akin to a California Common. Strawberry and watermelon notes in the flavour, assertive bitterness. Haze like in a dry hopped beer. Lacy, white cover. Bitterness really dominates the flavour.
