3.5 Parkway Get Bent Mountain IPA Bottle at my sister's house. Amber pour with small, frothy white head. Fruity aroma, citrus, grapefruit, pine. taste offers a nice, smooth bitter bite, with a mild sweetness from the malts. Thursday, August 10, 2023

3.5 Parkway Save the Galaxy Crisp deep copper and bronze coloured body with a good, three to four centimetre tall tan head that stays afloat for a while and leaves a subtle lace on the sides. Aroma of biscuits, nuts, earth, caramelised sugars and a touch of deeper, floral hops towards the end, but a strong smell throughout. Medium-bodied; Strong biscuity and very malyy flavour at first with a lot of sweetness from caramel and toffee follows right behind, along with a noticeable herbal and grainy character that makes this deeper and much more bitter than it would be with just the hops and malts. Aftertaste shows the grain, biscuits, herbs and floral elements, but some nuttiness and caramel flavours do hit hard along with a large astringency coupled with the bitterness from the alpha acids in the hops. Overall, a nice, deeper and much maltier beer than I was expecting with a lot of residual sugars and also a strong hop bite too, of course. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Giant Food in Alexandria (Potomac Yard), Virginia on 02-October-2020 for US$1,99 sampled at my house here in Washington on 30-October-2020. 3.3 Parkway sLIGHTly Bent Can from Vintage Cellar, Blacksburg. Impossible to read their dot printed BB date, but they're local, I assume it is in date. Pours hazy gold, nice white head. Aroma of old school citrusy hops, clean. Taste is zippy, strong carbonation definitely hits the tongue. Moderately dry, hop bite and nice grapefruit citrus hops on the back end. Its a light beer (well, a light IPA???) but the body is OK ... not thin, but not full bodied. Kinda fits the profile of a dry APA. Pretty good for what it is ... a lighter version of get bent, which an excellent old school west coat IPA. I'd like to try this on tap. Listed as 4.5% alcohol in the description here but my can says 4.9%. Friday, January 13, 2023

3.1 Parkway Cocka Doodle Brew Coffee Ale Tap, Sharkeys Radford. Pours golden yellow light head doesn’t stay around. Smell is instant coffee. Just instant coffee. Taste is coffee a bit of bitterness, no malt I can detect. Well, if you want a beer that tastes like coffee, this is it. Me, I don’t mind complexity but this is too much. Saturday, April 2, 2022

3.8 Parkway Save the Galaxy #3 in my inauguration day ticks. OK, this one might be a little ambitius for a US inauguration, but it is true we need saving and we finally have someone who will get us in that direction. 12 ounce bottle from Beer Run. Hazy orange, large foamy off-white head, good retention. Aroma of leafy hops, pale malt, some dry citrus. Taste is dank, orange, marmalade, grapefruit, pale malt. Medium bodied, moderate bitterness, well balanced. Nice non pastry IPA. Wednesday, January 20, 2021

3.6 Parkway Raven's Roost It pours dark brown with a light brown colored head. Head retention is good. It has aromas of toffee and roast with a bit of chocolate. There are some nut notes in the background with very low dark fruit. There are rich malt flavors with roast, chocolate, toffee, and nuts. There are hints of dark fruits. It has a medium full body that is quite smooth. Overall, it is balanced towards that malts with little else coming through in the flavor. The flavors are good, but a little more balance with the esters would have made it better. Saturday, August 15, 2020

3.7 Parkway Get Bent Mountain IPA (Grapefruit) Perfectly clear golden and light copper coloured body with a very thin, single centimetre tall tan head that fades quickly. Aroma of grapefruit (of course), grass, hay, light flowers and a dash of both yeast and alcohol. Medium-bodied; Very bitter and pungent grapefruity and citrusey characteristics show with some alcohol and even cleanser-like notes with a tiny dose of malt, not really balancing out the strong bitterness, but it's nice, especially for the style. Aftertaste is very crisp and dry with the large hit of grapefruit and citrusey characteristics, but also some dry grassiness and hay flavours, without much malt, alcohol or complexity. Overall, a nice, relatively easy-drinking, but very enjoyable grapefruity and citrusey IPA, just like the better East Coast IPAs of old days! Great to sample, especially fresh! I sampled this pint-sized, sixteen ounce can, purchased from K-1 Beer and Wine in Arlington, Virginia on 07-June-2020 for US$2,99 sampled at my house here in Washington, just four days later, on 11-June-2020. 3.2 Parkway Majestic Mullet Krispy Kölsch 12 oz bottle from Total Wine and More in Short Pump, VA The beer poured a clear gold color with a white foamy head that quickly dissipated. Very limited lacing. The aroma of caramel malt and floral hops greets you. The Kolsch has a light-medium body with soft carbonation. The taste has more yeast, grainy malts and hints of citrus. Thursday, June 11, 2020

2.8 Parkway Majestic Mullet Krispy Kölsch Starting to transition into summer beer drinking season. This could be a little crispier for the style, especially based on the label. Also maybe a tad more of bitterness. Guess this is just on the maltier side. Used one to boild hot dogs in. It's beer. Monday, June 1, 2020
jgb9348 |
2.7 Parkway Mangled Mango Slightly hazy, deep copper and orange coloured body with a bronze glow, and a thinnish single centimetre tall off-white head that fades relatively quickly. Aroma of grass, hay, flowers, light earth and a tiny bit of fruits, with mangoes, apricots and peaches noticeable. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong grassy and herbal flavours show up front with a lot of malt and bitterness at first, but then the fruit and acidic side shows up a little more and balances things out nicely with a light dose of sweetness at the end that still shows the fruits, but also some other notes. Aftertaste is relatively uneventful with only a mellow fruit and malt note showing through without any real pungency or character and only a sliver of bitterness from hops here at all. Overall, a pretty underwhelming beer with only a moderate amount of fruits, hardly any bitterness and just a touch of malt, without too much hop flavours either. Worth passing up, even after you see it over and over, like I did! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle, purchased from Whole Foods in Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia on 02-April-2020 for US$2,99 sampled at my house here in Washington on 07-April-2020, just five days later, a few blocks away. 3.6 Parkway Mangled Mango 12 oz bottle from Kroger in Short Pump, VA The ale poured a clear light amber color with a white head that slowly dissipated to a white-collar. Some lacing was noticed. The aroma of fresh mango was detected. This is a light version of an IPA with tropical fruit and pine in the taste.. It is easy to drink and refreshing but only faint hop bitterness typical of IPAs. The ale has a medium body with average carbonation. Thursday, February 20, 2020

4.2 Parkway Get Bent Mountain IPA This is a really good, citrusy, upfront, hoppy IPA that pours with a bold golden & fizzy look. The aroma is definitely hoppy IPA & the taste hoppy, through and through. The mouth feel is excellent. Overall, I think it’s an easy drinking and excellent IPA! This IPA is definitely under rated. Great job Parkway Brewers! Monday, February 17, 2020

3.5 Parkway Raven's Roost Bottle. A- Tobacco, cola. A- Black color, dark liquid, light brown head. T- Roasty, cocoa, licorice. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish.
