3.8 Little Egypt Hefeweizen Tasted on draft at 2015 St. Louis Microfest in a willi becher glass. It poured a hazy golden colour with persistent white foam and lace. Lots of banana ester, just the way I like it. Grainy, slightly bready, mild hoppy balance, very light and refreshing. Good stuff, no wonder they won Gold at the Great American Beer Festival. 3.5 Little Egypt American Pale Ale Draft on tap at South of I-80 CCBW Event at Green Lady (Chicago, IL). Pours a nice golden amber hue, a bit dulled, faint haze but near transparent oerall. Good lively carbonation matches a cakey offwhite head that sticks around well, laces nicely. Aromas are citrusy and fruity, decent Mosaic kick gives some tropical fruit and kiwi, nice touches of lemon, grapefruit juice. Some bready elements, a bit grainy. Nice, fresh. Initial is lighter end of the fold in body, medium bitterness hits with some gentle bready malt. Firmer dry and bitter elements take the reigns with tropical and kiwi tartness, bitter citrus elements doiong some work. Middle is a bit fruity, dry and bitter with some gentle grain elements dancing in and out. A nice firm hopping without being overdone, good fruit elements press on. Backend is pleasantly bitter, a touch of gumball, florals and soap. Gentle citrus and grapefruit taper out a bit. Mellow earth, bready malt and bitter hops. Pretty nice, nothing overstated. This beer gives some trendy hop influence without being overwhelming. The bittering element is middling and sufficient whereas we focus more on the flavor offered from them. Solid, quite drinkable. This might be a special batch with the Mosaic but I think it’s definitely on the right track. Fruity and lively, but still pretty crushable. Decent carbonation and citrusy hops hit at times. Nice. Still think Scyllas offered a bit more depth so I rated them as such. Wednesday, May 21, 2014

3.6 Little Egypt Abbot 6 Sampled at Microfest. Almost clear holden. A white head leaves some lace. I smell the malts that I had hoped to. Some nice fruit, too. Oranges. Some yeast and cloves. The flavor is down the middle per style. A hint of zesty bitterness and it matches the aroma. Creamy feel. Definitely in the strike zone. Saturday, May 3, 2014

3.3 Little Egypt American Pale Ale Sampled at Microfest under American Pale Ale. Hopefully the same beer. Very clear golden with a creamy head. Not a big aroma. Honey? Pale malts. A bitter grapefruit bite hits my mouth on the first sip and then fades i to a maltier beer. I like the transition. Some tropical fruit is tasted. A long lasting bitterness is pleadant. This is correct as an American Pale Ale. Nothing to be ashamed of here. Saturday, May 3, 2014
