Left Field Glorioso
[Can (355ml)] Pours an almost-clear pale gold with an average size diminishing frothy white head. Nice aroma (7+) of Lager yeast and grassy hops along with bready malt. Flavour follows the aroma -- it's a bit watery and has a decent bitter finish. Average bodied. Pretty good.

Left Field Anniversary No. 9 Foeder Aged Witbier
May 31, 2022 - at BeerBistro, on draught. Clear bright and brassy gold pour with a small white head. Smells like a standard slightly sweet spicy/yeasty Belgian golden with some white wine notes, some oak tannins. Taste follows, some dry floral bitterness - a little Orval character (if simple). Slick, light body, mild carbonation, medium-quick finish with hints of pear, wildflowers and off-dry white wine. Fun, if simple.

2024-03-27. Red pink body small off-white head. Aroma of lightly funky fruit. Impressions of rose and something that escapes me, presumably the prickly pear. Flavour is lightly sour, pleasantly fruity. Average to light bodied palate, soft carbonation. Quaffable and light. 7/3-4/7/3/15 On tap at Bar Volo, Toronto, ON.

Left Field Phenom
November 19, 2021 at Thirsty & Miserable, on draught. Turbid, milky yellow, not much head. Aroma reminded me of a farmhouse or bier de garde with some grape must. Taste is fruity, light with a little raw/green hop bitterness. Decent body, but very still, with a quick finish and that grape must/fruitiness dominates the aftertaste. Not bad, a bit weird, not keen on the mouthfeel.

Left Field Piña Power
Can: Poured a slightly hazy yellow color ale with a large white foamy head with good retention and some lacing.Aroma of nice fresh pineapple notes with some citrusy hops notes. Taste is also a mix of citrusy hops notes with some fresh pineapple notes and light bitter notes in the aftertaste. Body is about average for style with good carbonation. Interesting mix of flavors but juicer hops notes would have been even better.

Very clear ruddy pour. Fast-fading white head. The aroma is tart and fruity. There’s a bit of cherry, light fruit, moderate tartness and some fairly bright fruitiness. A touch of wood, light vanilla and a little bit of sweetness. Some light balsamic fruitiness. Pretty nice example of this style TBH.

very well done, yes rye is distinctive on a very good imperial stout base. Small cans work just fine!

Left Field Squeeze Play (Strawberry Rhubarb)
Lightly unclear, golden-amber colour with a creamyish, warm off-white head, good stay and leaves thick, creamy lacing. Rhubarb and strawberry aromas over the fruity malts with hints of vanilla. The sourness really comes out in the taste, lingering, kind of puckering. The fruits are there, and some mild tart is left. A good fruity-sour brew with the strawberries adding sweetness, and the rhubarb blending with the sourness..

Left Field Centre Cut No. 3 Exploratory IPA
Can. Hazy yellow pour with a decent head. Sweet piney hop aroma. Nice forward piney hop taste at the beginning with a little bit of sweetness in the middle. It is well balanced with a grassy cereal malt. Only flaw is it is a bit dry and flat in the after taste where the malt takes over. Still a quite good IPA but that stops it from being a top IPA.

Left Field Blackburne - Rye Barrel-Aged
12oz @ Ryan's (thx for the beer, dude!). Appearance: very dark brown with a dark beige head. Aroma: a bit spicy, charred oak, chocolate, some sweetness. Taste: along the same lines, rye nicely adds to the overall complexity. Overall: good one, the best of the three I tried tonight (base, HH, and this one), but I do still think the base requires more thickness!

Poured from 355mL can (pkg 21/Sep/2023; thanks Sammy). Tried same night with Blackburne and Blackburne Heaven Hill Bourbon 2023 (tried this last). Near black with light tan head. Oaky and roasty. The rye compliments the roastiness of the base beer here, adding some nice complexity. Enjoying this the best of the three.

12oz @ Ryan's (thx for the beer, dude!). Appearance: very dark brown with a dark beige head. Aroma: moderately charred oak, some sweetness and chocolate. Taste: along the same lines, less chocolate than in the base, though, that got overpowered by the charred oak. Overall: pretty good, but I do require more body in this one.
Earlier Rating: 1/18/2019 Total Score: 3.9

Left Field Blackburne Bourbon Barrel-Aged - Heaven Hill
Poured from 355mL can (pkg 21/Sep/2023; thanks Sammy). Tried same night with Blackburne and Blackburne Rye (tried this second). Near black with small beige head. Woody bourbon, very feint hint of wood glue (almost undetectable, but I'm a little bit sensitive to it). The bourbon quality covers a lot of the roastiness and chocolate from the base beer. Decent. Without the feint wood glue, would have given this a 3.9.

Left Field Squeeze Play (Cranberry Orange)
Clean amber colour with a pink hue, a big creamy head that is white-pinkish coloured, long lasting and leaving some nice thin lacing. Aromas a nice blend of cranberries and oranges, with a touch of sour-tart. The sourness does appear more in the taste with the tart left in the mouth. The cranberry-orange is milder, but adds the fruitiness. Gets a little hazy as it pours. Another decent Squeeze Play with the cranberries and oranges, with sourness and tartiness.

Can LCBO
Aroma: slightly sulphuric, grainy, dry, continental hops, floral hinted. 6+
Look: proper, almost clear, deep gold, white top (average life span). Fragmental lace (could do better).
Palate: medium thinner bodied, dry, frisky carbonation, clean.
Taste: think malty backbone since was brewed dry, hint of citrus, touch of alcohol, golden grain, faint bready notes. Final thoughts: proper per se, no major faults but did not ascent on higher brewing level.

2021-06-06. Black body, large foamy brown head. 3+ Aroma is mild but pleasant dusty lightly fruity dark malt. 7+ Flavour is similar, lightly fruity dark malt. Very subtle undertones that I want to call earthy or maybe a tiny hint of ash but neither feels accurate. Smooth average plus to medium bodied palate, effervescent carbonation. 3+ It’s a bit odd but I quite like it overall. 7/4/7-8/3-4/16+ Can from Left Field, Toronto.

Can from LCBO - pours a pale gold with a 1 finger cap......aroma is demure - boiled grains and some grassiness.....sharp effervescent character, light bodied- flavor has light pilsner malts in balance with some noble hop earthiness....fast wet, dry finish....really not a festbier, more like a pilsner and certainly not an Oktoberfest Marzen....no off tastes but very hum-drum and disappointing.
