imdownthepub	3.5 Settle Ernie's Milk Stout Cask conditioned at the Malt Shovel Tavern, Northampton. Dark brown with ruby hue and off white head. There is a sweet, dark roasted maltiness to this along with a hint of coffee bitterness. Smooth and rich on the palate, easy drinking. Nice beer. Saturday, December 16, 2023
Martinsh	3.7 Settle Old Smithy Cask at Bird in Hand, Stafford. Pours almost black with a small foamy cream head. There’s roast malts and lactose in the aroma. Lactose prominent again in the mouth where it is slightly sweet, smooth and creamy. Plus roasted malts and traces of vanilla. Some traces of dark fruits come through later. tombyars	3.8 Settle Plum Porter Tasted this at the Ayrshire Beer Festival in Troon on the 7th October 2022. Cask, gravity dispense, 1/2 pint sampled. Pours a ruby black in colour with a thin off white head. Malty aroma with strong undertones of ripe Victoria plums. Thin oily mouthfeel and poor lacing. Dark malt delivers a rich fruitloaf base with juicy Victoria plums to the fore. Thin notes of dark chocolate, treacle, dates & fig also present but much too fleeting unfortunately. Very slight hint of a hop prickle but this too fades fast. Malty finish with sweet Victoria plums still present in the mouth. A decent session Plum Porter and maybe less complex in flavour than the version from Titanic brewery. Friday, October 21, 2022

gunflash	4.3 Settle Plum Porter Top class plum porter which comes close to the titanic version though this brew is somewhat sweeter.Served in a pint glass from a gravity fed cask at the 21st Ayrshire Real ale festival. Warming with nice plum flavours dominating but also some blackcurrant and liquorice flavours. Superb mouthfeel and drinks way below its abv. Very enjoyable beer. Friday, October 7, 2022

jjsint	3.2 Settle Bergamot Handpull cask at the Nags Head, Great Malvern. Light to mid-gold and clear. A small foamy white head, leaving lots of lacing. Grassy aroma, some handsome, pleasant but with little of the promised bergamot. I get more bergamot in the taste: it's sweet at first but then visited by balancing bitter hops. Light refreshing body, soft carbonation. It doesn't quite come together but isn't a bad drink all in all. Friday, September 16, 2022

There’s malts, biscuits and toast in the aroma, plus hints of dark fruits. In the mouth it is fruity with malts and toffee to the fore initially. After a while it becomes somewhat bitter with chestnuts and a hint of ash. Finish is dry and slightly smoky. This is decent. Friday, September 9, 2022
