BoB Social Club Coffee Milk Stout
July 3rd, 2015 - My palate here at Beer on Broadway is getting a bit fatigued, so I finish with the Coffee Milk Stout. The smell spills out of the taster glass too quickly for me to catch much of a whiff, but there is a bit of a cream and coffee smell, though not complex or deep. I blame the vessel. The body is thinner than I expected, but the brew offers a long, savory coffee satisfaction, dry and not especially bitter. There's a slight tang too, though not especially strong.

BoB Eagle Rock Pale
July 3rd, 2015 - The last two tasters from BoB were phenomenal, and even their Pale Ale has a distinctive touch that's rare to find in brewery operations this size. More leather and tobacco in color, the aroma is slightly weedy but normally hoppy. But suddenly fruits lunge out of the flavor, leading with mango, and finishing with strawberry and pineapple. More excellence!

BoB Placer ESB
July 3rd, 2015 - Brewery on Broadway really impressed me with their stout, and the ESB follows in suit. Light and slight on the nose, it has a fine clear and golden color with plenty of visibility to take in the other side of the bar. As an ESB it is robust, with some muscles to flex, but importantly, finesse in balance. There's a slight sweetness in there too with a dusting of Bazooka Joe bubble gum, but nothing off-putting. Just supplementary. Another winner from an under appreciated brewery.

BoB Gothic Sour Imperial Stout
July 3rd, 2015 - Sour? Stout? This is weird, but this is a strange brew. Sour and lactic and tasty on the aroma, it invites lots of extra sniff samples. And when I indulge, I get oak and a bit of tobacco flavoring, which wins my approval. The flavor introduces my acidity and lactic acid, with a tasty oak and tobacco flavoring, which DOES win my approval. But the overall impression here is of funk - potent and powerful. And while not definitive, it's an important dimension of this brew. (Note, my mother who hates beer said this was her favorite beer of all time. Weird.)

BoB Goji Berry Pale Ale
Taster at the BoB. Pours a slightly hazy, orange color, with a medium, frothy, white head. The aroma is bergamot, green tea, apple juice, pine, and resin. Some sugary sweetness, and a hard, earthy bitterness. Medium body, with a harsh, sticky, and chewy mouthfeel. This is an interesting, bitter, and fruity pale, but not really enjoyable.

Lingering light foamy head. Not much there for the aroma. The flavors pretty unique. Caramel, slight rum, cinnamon, sweet butter, nutmeg, and a Xmas spice kick too. Looks like a dark beer but is pretty light and heavy in carbonation.

BoB Olof's Chocolate Imperial Stout
Real dark pour. Brown bubbles but doesn't carbonate much. Really heavy and rich on the palate. Super chocolatey, milkshake like, malty, sweet, oat and barley flavors, with a boozy finish. Pretty straight forward. Not a complex stout but still pretty good.

BoB Social Club Coffee Milk Stout
Dark pour that doesn't let any light through with a brown head. Smooth on the palate. Almost hardly any carbonation. Definite raw coffee beans for the aroma. Taste starts easy and then introduces light roasted coffee, slight bitter chocolate, and light on the sweet. Little bit of burnt oak on the finish. The nitro version is higher on the sweetness, stronger on the coffee and milk profile, and in my opinion better!
