Pure Order Santa Barbara Common
12oz bottle into a La Chouffe tulip on 25th May 2016, while on holiday in California. Dark amber with a red hue, the head a full off-white blanket of foam, Maltier than I expected, richer too. I am no expert on the style: I’m from Shropshire, how could I be? But I really liked this as a beer and have scored it accordingly. Light toffee on toast sort of taste, aroma weak but leaning towards maltiness. .

Draft at The Daily Pint. Aroma of heavy bready malt early followed by sweet caramel, light cinnamon, and faint brown sugar. Nice copper color with a long-lasting off-white head. The taste is slightly sweet with notes of toast and honey with a hint of rye and earthy hops. A decent example of the style (which is not a favorite of mine).

Pure Order Black Gull Porter
On tap @ Pure Order. Very dark brown colored pour with a sticky khaki head. Slightly smokey and pretty roasty malt on the nose. A bunch of coffee and a hint of cocoa. Light licorice. The flavor is a bit more on the bitter, roasty side than I normally prefer. A lot of black coffee, burnt sugar, and ash. Licorice candy and a bit of earthy, grassy hops. Not really my jam.

On tap @ Pure Order. Clear golden pour with a white head. Smells like fruity pebbles and weed. A stoners breakfast... Nice melon, citrus, and tropical fruits. Mild bitterness on the tongue. But some sweet malt and fruity hops. Decent amount of bitterness in the form of grass and herbs. Good orange character to it as well. Not bad overall.

Pure Order Santa Barbara Common
On tap @ Pure Order. Clear light amber pour with a white head. Grainy and mostly just sweet on the nose. Maybe a light herbal quality and some earthiness. The flavor is much more bitter than I’d expect for a California common. Grainy, toasted bread, and some earthy hops. A light woodiness to it, too. Eh.
