Cask conditioned at The Lamb & Flag, Oxford. Hazy gold with white head. There is an astringent bitterness to this, quite malty and drying with a hint of cereal. Some leafy, earthy hoppiness. It's fine.

Barnet Regal
Cask at the Ale House, Chelmsford. Pours clear dark amber, with a small off-white head. Aroma of malt, hop, caramel, light nut and fruit. Moderate sweetness, medium bittterness. Medium body, slight oily texture, soft carbonation. Moderately bitter, malty, fruity finish. A very decent bitter (described on the pump clip as an India Pale Ale). This is a 'traditional' English IPA rather than a modern take on the style (and a lot better than the regular mainstream IPA on offer in so many pubs in the East of England).

Cask @ Black Horse, Barnet. Golden-amber with a thin creamy-bubbly head. Pale ale with a pleasant and very palatable fruity dryness. There’s a few hops and a berry-fruitiness in its nose, with a very mild orange citrus in its taste.

Cask @ Black Horse, Barnet. Clear golden with an extremely thin bubbly head. It’s a sticky-sweet bitter and an unexciting one and didn’t feel well kept.

The taste is bitter-sweet, salted liquorice, caramel, wood, umami, charred wood and rich dark chocolate cake with a dry, bitter finish. Fullish body and moderate carbonation. Rich and bitter. Rather great depth to it. Very nice indeed.
