3.9 Goliad Presidio La Bahia Black Hefeweizen Pours virtually black with a creamy, fluffy off-white head that subsides to a creamy head and lingers. Aroma is chocolate with hints of banana. Taste is banana chocolate sweet, hints of fudge, with a twist of clove and increasing bitterness going into the finish. Texture is chewy, a bit oily, on a robust body. Sunday, April 16, 2017

3.8 Goliad Sweet Potato Pecan Scotch Ale Michelle from Goliad was promoting this at HEB in Katy, TX...nice lass! Pours a rusty amber, thin elusive head. Aroma is inviting, sweet potatoes, butter, squash. Tastes like a fall harvest, plenty of gourd, yams, cinnamon but now the nuttiness comes out, traces of brown sugar. Medium bodied. Delivers on the sweet potato, clever but not overdone, good job. Saturday, November 12, 2016

3.9 Goliad Sweet Potato Pecan Scotch Ale Bottle. Pours an attractive red-brown with a medium, fine-grained, sticky, light brown head. Nose is butterscotch, pecans, caramel, roast grain, and sweet potato; it’s definitely sweet potato, not squash or pumpkin. This is important, and makes me happy. On the palate -- if you’re going to make a beer with a list of ingredients, I’d better taste them. And wonderfully, I do on this beer. It’s a delicious Scotch ale with pecans and sweet potato. I love sweet potatoes, so I’m stoked. Goliad has now nailed two releases in a row, and they’ve done it by letting things taste like themselves. What a novel strategy. Wednesday, October 19, 2016

4.7 Goliad Presidio La Bahia Black Hefeweizen Outstanding dark beer regardless of the name. I wish I could make a beer like this at home. Not really what I like in a wiessbier, but this is great all the same. Monday, September 19, 2016

2.5 Goliad Oktoberfest I grew up in Germany and some of my kin folks were Bavarian. American brewers really should go to Oktoberfest (Der Wies’n) in Munich to taste what Oktoberfest beers taste like, then come home and make an American Festbier. Over-hopped amber ales aren’t served at O’Fest. They just aren’t. Oktoberfest biers must be at least 6.0% ABV to qualify to be served in festzelt... Goliad makes great beer and they have great people at the brewery! Well worth the visit. Please make a real Wies’n festbier to sell in Texas. You’ll rule! Monday, September 19, 2016

3.7 Goliad Watermelon Gose Keg at Littlewoods. It pours hazy golden with a small white head. The aroma is soft, fresh, sweet, tangy, real watermelon, guava, sherbet, sour candy and lime. The taste is crisp, tart, juicy good mouth - pucker, fresh vibe, minerals, lemon peel, granny smith, sour candy, minerals and sherbet with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Pretty refreshin stuff. Friday, September 9, 2016

2.9 Goliad Redfish IPA Very cloudy copper brew with huge head that slowly came down to look like whipped cream on top. Smells of grapefruit and the taste is an acidic grapefruit mixed with a bit of mustiness. Feels thick, gritty, and sticky going down. It’s OK but glad to only have purchased the one bottle. 3.5 Goliad Watermelon Gose Bottled. Watermelon and salt is always a good idea. Wish this tasted more like the real thing and less like a watermelon Jolly Rancher, but still good. Monday, September 5, 2016

3.4 Goliad Watermelon Gose Have to agree with everyone else saying Jolly Rancher watermelon aroma. I’ve never felt watermelon needs salt but I get it and it works quite well in this case. Saturday, August 20, 2016

3.6 Goliad Watermelon Gose Bottle. Sparkling City on Tap festival in Corpus. Hazy golden; off-white head. Aroma of watermelon and sour musty grain. Sweet, grainy, lightly salted taste. A little dry and light-medium bodied. Refreshing. Pretty well done. Sunday, July 31, 2016

3.4 Goliad Watermelon Gose 12 oz. bottle served a shaker- poured a hazy sun-faded yellow straw color, aroma of watermelons permeates the air as soon as the bottle was cracked upon; upon closer review watermelon (jolly rancher? reminds me of dollar store watermelon gum) dominates it with sourness, salt, and wheat that was dried too quickly and threw into an elevator for a year. White ring for a head, very spotty lacing upon the vessel. Hits the mouth with a light body, malt gets washed out by watermelon from the start, finish has some a sour feel that is light, finish has an actual enjoyable salt sensation to it. Pleasantly surprised by this one. Friday, July 15, 2016
