Sunnybrook Ale
I found my pre-Bill Moore Sunnybrook notes for this one. It poured straw, with aroma of malt, some hop, and some honey. Tastes fairly smooth, but uninspiring. Currently, Bill Moore makes the brews here. He used to work at Sly Fox, among others. I recommend his beers to anyone, especially the vanilla porter, stout, and awesome ale. Now, if he would only whip up a batch of Imperial Stout or Rauchbier!

Sunnybrook Pale Ale
A nice pale ale. Very hoppy, with a nice malt presence. Straw colored, with medium head and lacing. The finish is smooth and hoppy, with floral and citrus overtones.

Sunnybrook Pale Bock
A good bock. Straw colored, with a strong malty base and a solid alcohol presence (hidden well). I actually prefer this bock style to the traditional darker colored style. It's sort of a hybrid of a bock and a pilsener. Nice.

Sunnybrook Pilsener
A good pilsener. Light straw colored, good hoppiness. A little light in texture and color. Medium bodied. This one hasn't been on the board in a while.

Sunnybrook Porter
Bill Moore has made a vanilla porter for Ortleib's for the past two years or so, since management changed hands. This review is of the vanilla porter. The porter pours very dark, with a creamy, full off white head. Brussels lace forms generously as you drink. The beer is very malty, with a nice vanilla flavor imparted from the malt (the vanilla is subdued and not phony tasting). The beer gives off a great vanilla smell. It is super smooth at the finish, with a final blast of creamy malt and vanilla flavor. Batches of this don't last long when it is on the chalkboard. Delicious.

Sunnybrook Stout
This stout pours slightly less dark and thick than Guinness. It is extremely complex, with a nice tan head, generous Brussels lace as one drinks, and subdued hops. It is roasty, slightly creamy, and slightly dry. The finish is super smooth (it is poured with nitrogen) with hints of smoked malt, coffee, chocolate, and Worcestershire sauce. A great stout.

Sunnybrook Winter Warmer
A good, strong winter warmer. The alcohol presence is subdued, but definitely present. Very malty, even maltier than the fest, with hints of nutmeg, cinnamon, candy sugar, and cognac. The finish is warm and smooth. A great winter warmer from Bill Moore.

Sunnybrook Oktoberfest
Very nice fest. Orangish-amber in color, with a nice head. Very malty, with strong (but not overpowering) hop presence. Finish is smooth, with hints of caramel, toffee, and blush wine. Instead of a black and tan, I get this with vanilla porter or stout floated on top and call it a "Halloween black and orange". It looks great!

Sunnybrook Lager
This is also called Ortleib's select 69 lager. A drinkable lager. Light straw colored with a good head, nice hoppiness, and medium malty body. This one won a silver medal in 2003. A good beer if you want more than one.

Sunnybrook Amber Ale
Another nice effort from Bill Moore. A good amber. Very well balanced. Smooth and malty with hints of caramel, cinnamon, and citrus. Amber in color with a nice head. The finish always leaves me wanting one more.

Sunnybrook Oktoberfest
Lacked a real robust flavor, didn't keep a good head at all, but not a bad marzen.

Sunnybrook Pale Ale
Lacked the real bitterness usually associated with pale ales, and didn't keep a good head, but still a good, clean, refreshing ale

Sunnybrook Ale
This style, just like the rest of Sunnybrook's, would be much, much better if they had a different brewmaster. I believe the plans are in order to get someone new in there. The beers should vastly improve once the existing guy is gone.
