3.7 Homer Odyssey Oatmeal Stout Poured into a nonic pint glass, the appearance was a black color with tan head that died off at a nice pace. Semi-foamy lace. The aroma had some black licorice with a delicate roasty coffee bean, and Baker’s chocolate. The flavor kicks at the roastiness to blend the black licorice and Baker’s chocolate to some molasses and then a semi-spicy to sweet aftertaste coaxing the finish in a smooth sort of way. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium in body with a fair sessionable sort of sticky feel. Mild carbonation. Good ABV. Overall, good stout worthy of having again if I could find it. 3.2 Homer Broken Birch Bitter Reviewed from notes. This was poured into an English pint glass. The appearance was a hazy amber color with a slight bubbly head. The aroma had some cracker to bready malt up front and a light citrusy to bitter piney hoppiness ever so subtle in the background. The flavor yielded to the malts decently. Birch taste comes out here. Quick crackery malt aftertaste. Cracker and birch in the finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a subdued carbonation about it. ABV felt right. Overall, as a Bitter it works, but the birch is really only tasted. Never smelled it, no matter how many times I had it. Perhaps again, as it’s decent for the style. 3.1 Homer Belgian Black Abbey Reviewed from notes. Thanks Derrick for bringing down a growler. We both had this in chalices. The appearance was a hazy burnt brown color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute. There was some light lacing sticking and then sliding down into the beer. The smell had a fairly nice sweet to spicy blend of chocolate, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger. The taste took those flavors and added a light coriander to it. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a good abbey ale sessionability about it. Overall, I say this was a pretty good Belgian ale that I could do again. 3.7 Homer Raspberry Porter Growler from Steve. This was poured into a.pint glass. The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute. Light lacing came about from the dissipating head. The smell had a dark roasted coffee bean with gentle nutty malts and then a light raspberry to balance. The taste was roasty, sweet through a combination of coffee to raspberry, I liked it a lot. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a tad of sessionability about it. The carbonation was there - slightly harsh but not overbearing. There’s a nice intricate tart sweet raspberry to chocolate rolling over my tongue and into the finish. Overall, really nice porter with raspberry in it. I would definitely have this again. 2.7 Homer Red Knot Scottish Ale Partially flat growler pour. Slightly cloudy deep amber, little head. Smell of malt and vanilla and faint fruit. Taste is pale malt, slight toasted bitterness, touch of salt, and apple juice. Very mild, light. Finish is clean and slightly sour/ bitter. Palate us a little thin, not bad. Carbonation was a bit flat, but this growler was not fresh or full. This beer will not kick you inna haid, and therefore not scottish at all. It’s mild and un imposing, and in the end, a bit boring. 2.7 Homer Old Inlet Pale Ale [Tap] Had on tap at a restaurant in Homer. Light amber in color with a small amount of head to it. Muddled hop aroma is grassy and a bit floral. Overall the nose is pretty weak for pale ale. Tastes of a mix of citrus, pine and grassy hops. Mild and astringent grainy notes throughout. The hop profile here was a bit messy. A sharp bitterness in the finish is unpleasant. Light in body. I wasn’t a big fan of this one. Monday, October 17, 2011

3.4 Homer Broken Birch Bitter [Tap] Had at a restaurant in Homer. Pours a bright golden color with a small white head. Floral hop aroma includes mild pine as well. Crisp and mild hoppy taste is of lemongrass, citrus zest and light herbs. Highly carbonated. Better body than one may expect from a low ABV beer. Fresh and crisp tasting. Nicely sessionable for sure. Monday, October 17, 2011

2.7 Homer Red Knot Scottish Ale [Bottle] Had at the Salty Dawg Saloon in Homer. Apparently the brewery bottles this into Sobe bottles and slaps their own label on top. Pours a muddy brown color with a soapy looking head. The nose is of caramel and sweet toffee. The taste is very similar. Sweet breads and mild cinnamon notes. Distinct grainy notes as well. Not much of a ’scottish’ feel to it. Light palate and undercarbonated (maybe cause it’s in a Sobe bottle??). Not bad, but not great either. Monday, October 17, 2011

3.3 Homer Celestiale 22 oz bottle from 2008, bottle #90 of 144. Pours deep amber with a thick foamy head that dissipates quickly.
