(bottle, as Gambrinus Edel-Bock, 6.5% abv) Clear, deep golden colour with a medium-sized and slightly off-white foamy head. Biscuity malty aroma with notes of honey and subtle fruity and slightly herbal hops. Sweet flavour, medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Sweet but not cloying malty start with notes of biscuits and hints of apricots; sweet and restrained bitter hoppy finish with juicy fruity and delicately spicy hoppy notes. Likeable, unconventional Bock. 26.II.18

Preissn(NRW)-Flascherl [label says 6.5%](@Amazon Kraft Bier Korner): Deep golden, hazy, slowly collapsing loose off-white head, lazy carbonation; moderate sweet honeyish-fruity nose with a rural , mildly bitter and herbal-hoppy background; moderate sweet and slightly bitter flavour, medium bodied, soft, oily MF; lingering sweet honeyish finish with a mild, but still well balancing "oaky"-hoppy tail. Quite a sweet Bock, quite a great Bock...

Süßlicher, hell holziger Antrunk. Würzig, die Süße bleibt intensiv, etwas erdig, milde helle Fruchtigkeit. Süß-hellmalzig, spritzig, Nuancen von Karamell. Nett. 8/7/8/7/11/8

5 L mini-keg at Seelmann Bräu in Aug. 2014: Hazy golden-peach. Soapy nonuniform bubbles comprise the scant head. Singular nose of Turkish apricot, breadcrust, licorice, and toasty pils malt. Hints of lactose, vinegar and soap. Minuscule carbonation. Opens with a licorice and woody hop firmness supported by haylike grain and crisp toffee suggestions. Splash of fruity esters brightens the stiff malt, as does a punch of brisk minerals. Moderate amount of oily floral softness accompanies the spicy Spalt. Touch of soured fruitiness joins some soapiness which muddles things significantly. Finishes curiously subdued, with faint nectar and licorice Spalt trailing the ongoing breadcrust and toffee maltiness. Underneath the flaws, this is brimming with Franconian charm, and the malt does show much promise. But it’s just too unclean and muddled for thorough enjoyment. Would have loved to try this back when Seelman was a thriving operation!

Can (5000ml): Deep golden, hazy, small and stable off-white head; chalky and grainy nose with a slight herbal hoppiness underneath; moderate dryish bitter flavour, a slight sweetness is detectable in the Background, pretty light bodied and relatively soft; dryish chalky and bitter finish. Rural and thin brew, still well drinkable...

(5L-Can, purchased at the brewery) Cloudy, orange-golden colour with a big and loose, slightly off-white foamy head. Yeasty, juicy malty and slightly worty aroma with notes of pears and peaches. Moderately sweet and restrained bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Mildly worty and slightly caramelly with fruity and yeasty accents; a vaguely bitter touch tunes in towards the juicy malty finish. Easy going and a bit bland by Franconian standards, smells and tastes a bit unfinished. 14.IX.14

From 5 L mini keg at the brewery in Zettmannsdorf. Lightly hazed dull gold-amber. Close to zero visible carbonation.
Basement must / green moldiness with apple butter aroma (apple esters, light diacetyl) lightly minerallic. Toasty / grainy malt. Lemon-oil moderate hoppiness. Mostly clean in the mouth, seems a tad dirty in the nose. Rich mouthfeel experience, I wish I had it with more carbonation but I understand why. Nice grip of acid in the back of the mouth, carbonation is a little rough. The brewer used to make a hoppier lager but the locals found it unpalatable. Sucks for me.

on tap @the brewery, as a prelude to a big bierwalk with the boys. anyways, great place but a shame the beer was nothing special - lightly hazed dull golden with a modest but lasting head; aroma of hay and watered-down pear schnapps; only light bitterness, some stonefruit and breadiness; on another day i may have found this charming in its rustic simplicity, however i was a little underwhelmed on this occasion

Brewery tap. The brewery is very old. The talkative old brewer served his beer proudly. Golden color, just a bit hazy. Malty with a late hopbitterness. Well rounded, because of 6 weeks lagering. Hopbitter finish with just a bit dirty palate. Strong barnyard aroma.
