Cwmbran Crow Valley Bitter (Bottle)
500ml bottle picked up in Wales and drunk on 18/06/2009. Really quite unpleasant. Seemingly infected, but not to the point of total undrinkablity, but rather a building, unintended sourness.

Cwmbran Crow Valley Bitter (Bottle)
500 ml bottle sampled in 2008. Deep, reddish golden body with a small off-white head. Light aroma of burnt malt and caramel. Flavor is light roasted malt, some caramel, slightly sour and low bitterness. Medium body and not so much aftertaste. A bit boring.

Cwmbran Crow Valley Bitter (Bottle)
Brown 500ml bottle drank on its best before date of Oct 2008. Poured into a straight pint sleeve glass. It has a deep amber/terraccota red colour, clear and clean looking, on top sat a white covering of foam. The aroma was of a rich raisen, plum pudding type of smell, toasted malts also in the bouquet. The taste has all the flavours mentioned in the aroma section, this is a good beer. I thought it a bit watery after a while, the flavours hung around, but it lacked a true body feel that you would expect from such a rich smelling and first mouthfeel bitter. Apart from the weakness at the finish I thought this a fine beer. The head fell away too swiftly too.

Amber coloured clear beer. Nice carbonation. Rich malt dominates with a creamy touch. A little hop fruit at the end and a splash of banana provides a counterpoint to what is otherwise an unashamedly malty beer!

Cwmbran Crow Valley Ale
500ml bottle from Utobeer (courtesy Jan) drunk on 4 December 2010. No best before date but may have been a bit long in the tooth as the brewery closed in 2009. Didn’t seem to have suffered too much though. Amber colour. Clean and bright appearance. Good condition. Dry. OK, fairly standard brown bitter in a quite traditional style.

Cask in the Market Porter. Alround rating: pale sweet malt that got some strange wheatyness, but nothing i could recognise well, small bit of old cellar, slightly nutty, but manages to stay balanced in the finish despit very little to no hop character.

Full marks on looks, lovely dark ruby colour with a small head. Smells a little fruity tastes a little fruity. Good amount of fizz helps make it nice and refreshing although theres not much of a flavor, bit of an aftertaste leaves you wanting more. goes down well but remains fairly average.

Cwmbran Full Malty
Bottle, 11-07-09 passed to me at Mikey and Barbara’s party. Had this after a good few pints of Woods Shropshire Lass, so I was probably not in best rating form, despite this I still found this to be a so-so beer at best. Poured dark amber, with sweetness on the nose. As the name suggests this is a rather malty beer, but other than sweetness I got very little else. A5 A3 F6 P3 Ov11 2.8

Smokiness inherent in the aroma and aftertaste with some sweet malty raisin tones which seem pleasant to the mouthtone at first but become dominated by a sour charcoal like yeasty-ness. Overall, not a bad beer except for what lies in the finish.

Cask at Wellington Arms, Bedford. Gold with a small white head. Faint citrus aroma. Taste is again rather insipid, perhaps reminiscent of weak lime juice. Is there a hint of wheatiness to justify the beer’s name? Perhaps. Nothing more to add.

Bottle. It pours a clear, quite dark golden body with a nice off-white head. Weak nose with some caramel and a little fruityness. Sourish, roasted flavor with caramel and malts. Low on bitterness, also in the finish, which is slightly fruity with caramel. Medium body. Wondering if this one was going bad, at least there were some signs of that. Rating: 4-4-5-3-9-2.5. Old rating stand. (080829)

Bottle. It’s a clear, dark golden beer with a beige head. Malty aroma with caramel, some roasted malt and a vague fruityness. Malty, roasted, toffeeish flavor with a decent bitterness. Nice carbonation level, and a bitter and malty finish. Sure a decent bitter, but there’s nothing special to it. (080412)
