The Brewhouse Sunset Amber
On tap at The Brewhouse. It looks as though they have bought this one out of retirement. Served ice cold, probably a bit too cold. Burnt copper red colour with no head at all. Strong toffee and malt aroma with a biscuity caramel malt flavour. There was a good long finish and malty aftertaste left on the palate. A nice clean beer from a little known microbrewey here in Brisbane.

The Brewhouse Shot in the Dark Coffee Porter
Drank from tap at the Brewhouse, Brisbane. This porter has a great aroma, you smell the morning coffee coming from it. The beige head dissapeared quickly, but the taste was good with the right amount of bitterness. Another great beer from this local brewhouse

The Brewhouse Star Lager
330ml bottle. This brewhouse has recently been relocated and is now brewing several beers that had been retired, this being one of them. Not as pale and watery looking as some pilseners although it does carry that familiar thin white head and clear orange colour. Some faint grass and grain aromas and the flavour is light and musky and misses the mark.

The Brewhouse Star Lager
From a 330ml bottle on 15/1/2011. Please note that I’m not 100% sure this is the right entry for the beer I had (will move this if I see a more up to date entry). Mine is labelled StarLager Classic Pilsener, is 5%, and is from Brisbane, but the bottle says it’s brewed by Brisbane Brewing Co. And this one’s clearly not retired! Doesn’t have much in the way of aroma, just a little grassiness. Not too bad when it hits the mouth. It’s sweet up front, with some honey and citrus fruit notes, and is nicely hopped. Unspectacular but decent.

The Brewhouse Bulldog Cloudy Ale
No longer the bulldog, but simply brisbane brewery pale ale. This is very much in coopers PA territory with a little more hop bite. Easy drinking.

The Brewhouse Engine IPA
Can’t believe these beers haven’t been retired. From what I understand there is little to no chance of them opening again. Anyway this was an average english IPA. Marmalade and cumquart etc with a short dry finish.

The Brewhouse Taffys Bock
A Mes rating. The best beer these guys made. Quite full bodied, with the malt giving off lots of caramel and a bit of dark fruit. Easy drinking and was a good go to - given the beer climate in brisbane.

The Brewhouse Midnight Extra Stout
A Coopers extra stout rip, but still pretty good. Dark and fruity with the bitterness cutting a decent swathe through the malt character.

The Brewhouse Up Yer Kilt
A Mes rating. Not a bad little malty beer. Darkbrown with earthly head. Nose is malty and on the tongue it has a pure malt driven bite, even if the body is thin to medium bodied.

The Brewhouse Taffinator Doppelbock
I think that this would have to be the best beer that I have had from this brewery (although I am not really sure where the brewery actually is now) Good caramel malty notes without being cloying. Nice finish without too much alcohol being evident. I hope they keep this standard up as i enjoyed this beer very much.
