Jow	3.2 Taiten Shiragiku Genshu Sake Bottle at home. Goldish pour faint nose of coconut water and alcohol. Tastes of some honey dew, alcohol, coconut, light almonds. Dry almond skin on finish slight alcohol warming although well hidden for 20%. Monday, December 7, 2015
Jow	3.8 Ohtouka (Cherry Peach Blossom) Nama Sake Bottle at home. Thought this would be a bit of a throw away for the Namasake tick but this was very enjoyable and at a great price, surprised no one has rated in a few years. Pours pretty clear with nice nose of tropical fruit. Tastes of peaches, papaya, floral, vanilla, and faint trace of white wine. Great creamy mouthfeel and only hints of alcohol on finish. obguthr	3.4 Ohtouka (Cherry Peach Blossom) Nama Sake Cherry cordial and airplane glue aroma. Crystal clear pale yellow. Somewhat viscous Rather sweet, cherry and koji flavor initially. Finishes with airplane glue and cantaloupe. Nice. Sunday, April 22, 2012
foduck	5 Taiten Shiragiku Daiginjo I can’t believe how good this is. I never bother to rate sake but I felt so compelled after drinking this. I’ve only tasted maybe 20 to 30 sakes but this is unlike anything I’ve ever drank before. Aroma is pears, melon, alcohol. Clear as water but pours viscous like a vodka out of the freezer. Fruit hits up front right away but then quickly fades out to a dry and very clean finish. So smooth and delicate. Finishes acidic, kind of green apple. I drank this at room temperature. Not like any sake I’ve ever had before but this was $65 for a 720ml bottle. So I guess it is true when people told me "you get what you pay for." Saturday, March 12, 2011
kmweaver	3.3 Okagura (Big God) Sake 300mL bottle. Pours a clear color; slight viscosity and strong legs. Clean aroma showing rice and sugar water; singular expression, but no show of alcohol in the nose. There is, however, the slightest bit of grain alcohol coming through in the mouth; a bit heavy overall: rice hulls, alcohol, and a bit of vanilla; again, quite focused and singular, with the only flaw in the mouth being the clear presence of alcohol; very drinkable otherwise. PorterPounder	1.8 Ohtouka (Cherry Peach Blossom) Nama Sake Marcello Wine Market, Baton Rouge, La. - 300 ml bottle - served chilled. Lazy, dirty dishwater pour - no sparking. Sulphuric smell, smells like a fresh book of matches - not pleasant. Flavor redeems itself just a bit, some slight sulphur notes of course, but picks itself up with some boiled rice, some grassiness and a hint of peach. hezron	3.7 Ohtouka (Cherry Peach Blossom) Nama Sake 300ml bottle marked 2004.6, purchased at a grocery store on Kauai. It wasn’t refrigerated, so I’m not sure if it was spoiled, never had sake before. Aromas af banana, vanilla, it is very soft. Very pale yellow, just the slightest hint of color. Vanilla, woody, bananna and then some white chocolate notes. Some perfume/flowery stuff as it warmed. Watery-oily texture, no carbonation, some noticable alcohol in the finish but it hides it well. AceOfHearts	3.2 Ohtouka (Cherry Peach Blossom) Nama Sake Served from the bottle in an ochoko cup. I drank this over a sushi lunch just now, and I have to say that I really don’t understand what it’s supposed to be. First of all, I’m beyond shocked that it’s 13.5% ABV. It looks exactly like water in all respects, but I’m judging it by sake standards and so I’ll give it a 3 in appearance. The smell is of subtle fruits, especially peaches, and is slightly sharp. Very smooth taste, but that doesn’t really get points...I mean, masking alcohol is for getting chicks drunk! There’s a bit of vinegar in the finish that didn’t appeal to me, either, but the smoothness is nice. Easy to drink, especially at cold temperatures, and went half-decently with my lunch (I LOVE white cod sushi!!) Friday, August 27, 2004
austinpowers	4.7 Ohtouka (Cherry Peach Blossom) Nama Sake Magnificent!!!! The Ohtouka won tonight's six-way sake tasteoff by a decent margin, and one of the competitors was a Daiginjo from Kamoizumi. Maybe it's the 13.5% abv that makes this so smooth and light, but there's a wonderful candyish aroma (albeit faint) and a whiff of marshmallows. There's a hint of yeast and sweetness in the taste, and overall this is a light, not-very-dry, sake that you'll fall in love with. Rather than an oily, buttery texture, Ohtouka is more watery in consistency with a pronounced sweetness. With a seimaibuai of 68%, Ohtouka's not all that refined, and thus there's a hint of yellowness to the color. Nevertheless, buy this sake! But caveat emptor, as it's unpasteurized, you need to find a retailer who keeps it refrigerated, as it will deteriorate quickly on a store shelf. Probably one of the best bangs for your buck that you can possibly find. Monday, January 26, 2004
