3.2 Lizard An Gof Bottle. Pours copper amber almost chestnut body off white foam head. Aroma of roasted malts and berry fruits. Taste is medium sweet to bitter with some more hedgerow berries at the front and a definite bitter finish. Medium bodied, slightly sticky texture, average carbonation and a drying bitter finish. Overall, it's not a strong ale I will seek out, although looking at other reviews it seems to be better if you get it fresh rather than bottled. Tuesday, September 12, 2023

3.3 Lizard An Gof Panda at home, thanks to Danlo, 12/06/22. Deep amber to chestnut brown with a light beige covering that dissipates to a swirl and edgeing. Nose is dried fruits, toffee, dates, sugars, brown bread, hint of berry fruits. Taste comprises fruit cake, brown sugar scattering, brown bread, light spice, hedgerow, toffee, dates. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light drying close with a modest bitter edge. Respectable enough strong ... not sure why only scoring 2.87? Sunday, June 12, 2022

3 Lizard Horseshoe Special Reserve Bottle from Purely Cornish, Looe. Golden-brown with a small head. Lots of sediment at the end, this beer was sat in my cellar for 5 or 6 years before opening and was fine. Midly fruity but very flavoursome old ale all the same, good aroma too. Lowish bitterness. 2.5 Lizard Kernow Gold Wow. This is pretty shit. 500ml bottle from Paignton ChavsDa. Misted orange with a fine low foam. Dank pollen, TCP, orange rind, even Fruit Salad aroma emerging. Damp bland dead yeast taste with specks of orange rind, green apple, ancient lime. Hard work. Bitter. Not gold and not good. Wednesday, November 20, 2019

2.6 Lizard Frenchmans Creek 500ml bottle from Paignton ChavsDa, upturned and almost frozen. Misted orange with a narrow patchy top like sick. Slightly furry satsuma and fennel aroma clouded in yeast. That taste with mild herb, clove, mealy biscuit, noncommittal orange. Dull. Wednesday, November 20, 2019

2.9 Lizard An Gof Bottled, 500ml from Good Life, Polperro, Cornwall. Copper to chestnut with cream head. There is an over ripe plummy character to this, a touch boozy, a touch fusty. Sweet, slightly nutty, slightly souring. Heavy on the palate. Just okay really. Wednesday, September 4, 2019

3.5 Lizard An Gof Always found good and pleasurable but being a ex Lizard dweller i may be biased. Picked up a couple of bottles from St Keverne shop whilst visiting family. Great colour but weak head. I like the caramel malty nature and fruity tones ans goes down well. Doesn't "feel" like a 5% ale but to me its ok alround. Wednesday, February 27, 2019

0.5 Lizard Frenchmans Creek One of the worse ales I have ever tried. Looks like dirty water, bottle conditioning clearly isn't done properly. Tasted flat and sour, smelt awful, tasted awful. Reminded me off the dregs of ale that would be found in the drip trays at the pub I used to work at. Avoid. Wednesday, August 1, 2018

2.1 Lizard An Gof Very muddy, very ripe, very old school. Falls into the ‘home brew’ category of beers (lol) but then, teasingly, from within the malted bog, out comes a strange sweetness, almost a mix of toffee and brown sugar. Enough to keep my drinking, but not enough to convince me repeat, I don’t think. An odd one. 500ml bottle from some off license in Lizard, Cornwall. Tuesday, July 17, 2018

3.8 Lizard Kernow Gold Bottle from Asda, Newquay on 19th May 2018. Cloudy amber with thin off-white foam decaying to little more than anon-lacing ring. Citric aroma with deeply pungent yeasts. Smoky, citric hoppiness in-mouth with deeply earthy pungency. A citrus, smoked finish. Full f with a zingy mouthfeel. Unusual and enjoyable. Saturday, May 19, 2018

2.2 Lizard Frenchmans Creek 500ml bottle. Pours lightly hazed deep golden with a minimal white head. Aroma: not great, perhaps some light citrus. Taste: dry with moderate bitterness, lemon, some caramel, soapy. Light bodied, minimal carb, dry bitter finish. This neither looks great or tastes great, hope it’s better on cask! 2.9 Lizard Kernow Gold 500ml dark bottle, unfiltered, from Asda in Weston, part of a four local ales for £6 deal, same as Tesco. Has more flavour, body and character when the yeast is swirled into it. Then becomes quite a tasty little pale beer. Tuesday, August 22, 2017
