Box @ The Boot Micropub as part of our pre-Christmas tasting walkabout. Slightly unclear golden yellow pour. Aroma of fleshy eating apple fruit, vibrant apple skin. Good characterful flavour profile.. nicely fleshy crunchy apple nuances, nice natural sweetness, bitter apple skin finish. Lovely cider with good definition.

Hogan's Killer Sharp Cider
500ml bottle (Vingiu non-existent webshop, Kaunas - thanks Tomas!) (6:4:5:2:11=2.8) Bright orange, small fizzy head. Sweetish apple cider aroma. Extremely spine-tingling sharpness, woh, that'll put hairs on Anna's chest. Dry woody cider taste. Fairly high carbonation accentuates the acidity. Seems more brewed for shock value than for enjoyment. It's cold and wet - it'll do.

Hogan's Keeved Cider
On tap at Tiny Rebel - Cardiff, pours a mostly clear pale golden blonde with a tiny white head. Aroma has a nice farmhouse character, light hay, apple skins, and gentle sugars. Flavour is moderately sweet upfront, which quickly transitions to the farmhouse and hay notes, leaving some crisp apple skins and moderate residual sugars. Nice use of the keeving process — I like the farmhouse character, although I’d prefer it a lot drier. Very good.

Very smokey. Plenty of sweet apple behind that. Golden pour. Sweet finish with something oily, amongst like suntan oil, that hangs around on the tongue. Tap at Tiny Rebel.

Hogan's High Sobriety
500ml bottle (Vingiu non-existent webshop - thanks Tomas and new gal!) (5:3:5:2:10=2.5) Pale gold, sparkling, brief fizzy head. Slightly vinegary tart apple juice aroma. Watery palate, acidic, fizzy carbonation. Vague cidery taste, some skins, not much flesh, just a bit of vinegar pokes through too. Well, it's cold and wet. Not doing it for me, but it's sauna night, so it's all getting drunk. I much prefer the Normandie cidres doux at 2%.

Hogan's Wild Elder
500ml bottle (Vingiu non-existent webshop - thanks Tomas and new gal!) (7-:3:7-:3:13=3.3--) Pale yellowish clear cider, petilent carbonation. Huge elderflower aroma as I pour, really perfumey, but with the apple it's a very sweet perfume. Sweet but crisp palate, pleasant carbonation. Pleasant apple cider taste, on the sweet side, tannins quite low, as is the acidity, and the elderflower remains subtle (compared to the aroma). Very easy quaffer - absolutely perfect on a hot summer record-breaking heatwave day. Alas it's a cold and pissing down summer day, but that's not going to interfere with my enjoyment of the cider. Seems like a possible overrate, as it's lacking something.
