Hawkstone Pils
Bottle. Mitchell’s Wines. Birthday gift from the missus. Clear straw colour. Fairly decent white foam. Clean grain and lightly spicy leafy hop. Easy going and bright on the palate. Maybe errs a little sweet overall. Touch of bitterness on the finish. Steady away. I’d happily do multiples.

Panda from LCB. Clear gold, small white top. A slightly soapy lemon aroma with cereal. Taste of grains, grass, lemon sherbet, light hibiscus. Mid bodied, drying, somewhat cloying, bitter. More flavour profile than your average pale lager but its not that refreshing or tasty in truth.

Hawkstone Session Lager
10th April 2024
Clear and slightly pale gold beer, small bubbly pale cream colour head. Airy palate, mildly dry, decent fine carbonation. Light pale malts, a light creamy sweetness, whisper of grain. A clear lager tang in the mid. Hops are soft pine and a nice light lemony citrus. Airy finish. Yeah, works well as a session lager, I would be quite happy to in the pub all night quaffing pints of this without worrying if I'm gonna fall asleep on the train home. Again.

Hawkstone IPA
10th April 2024
Very near clear gold beer, small bubbly pale cream colour head. Light smooth palate, very mildly dry, decent fine minerally carbonation. The malts are smooth and airy and have a distinct caramel streak. This would normally piss me off in an IPA but it works a treat here. The hops are nicely juicy, soft pine into a juicy rounded orange and mandarin citrus. Airy piney finish. Yeah, this is a decent beer, very drinkable. Never an IPA but whatever. Could defo session this.

Aroma : Minimal caramel maltiness, strong lemony citrus note at first that fades quickly as a light piney resinous comes through. Taste : Quite thin & watery. Very light hoppy citric bitterness throughout. Flavours exactley as aroma light caramel, light citrus, light pine. Not horrible but very very average

330ml can from Sandy Balls Holiday Village farm shop. Pours a clear reddish amber, no head at all, no lacing. Aroma of biscuity amber malt. Flavour profile presents gentle toasted malt, toffee, unfermented wort, quite simplistic but fine overall.

Hawkstone Session Lager
Bottled, 330ml from Bicester Avenue Garden Centre, Bicester, Oxon. Pale yellow gold with white head. This proved to be a light, easy drinking session beer, crisp lemon hopped notes on a crisp malty body. Some lemon / lime hints. It's fine.

Hawkstone Sundowner
Canned, 330ml from Bicester Avenue Garden Centre, Bicester, Oxon. Pale straw with short lived fizzed head, heavy carbonation. This proved to be really thin on the palate, it was the equivalent of the 5th brew from a tea bag. Almost flavourless apart from fusty excessive carbonation. Not good at all.

Bottled, 330ml from Bicester Avenue Garden Centre, Bicester, Oxon as Hawkstone 3.8 Pils. Straw colour with white head. Thin malts to this with some crispness, hints of lemon / lime. Tastes a bit mass produced macro lager like, which maybe is what they want. Okay(ish).

Bottle from local garden centre that has now got a few beers on (I.e. these and Hogs Back), having had none for a while. Now 4.8%. Aroma is woody, with malts and some citrus. Clear copper gold. Thin foamy white head. Medium-heavy bitter. Resinous. Earthy. Citrus edge. Sherbert. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Average-fizzy carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. Better than I was expecting. Bitter and sessionable.

330ml bottle: BBE January 2024, drank at home on 27th May 2023. This was a present from my London based brother Matthew, cheers Bro! Poured into an old Duvel glass, it's bright golden in colour, clean and clear, on top a snow white blanket of tight bubbles. Bitter with a dry finish is my first impression after just two sips, yip it's dry tasting and bitter. In fact I had to get some Cashew Nuts to help be finish the bottle.

33cl bottle from Teals Farm Shop near Yeovil on the A303. Pours a brilliantly clear amber with a foaming head. Rather thin malt taste with hints of minerals and flint. The hop flavour has notes of orange and grapefruit peel with hints of pine resin. Thin to medium mouthfeel with a slightly acerbic aftertaste. Fairly drinkable but nothing special.

Draught at the Tavern by James Martin at the Lygon, Broadway, Worcs. Pale gold with short white head, heavily carbonated. This really was fizzy, took some time for it to dissipate. Thin malts with a vague citrus hop note. Really quite poor, no real conditioning. Pretty ropey

Bottle in a Qwerty Beer Box. Aroma has malts, hay, an earthiness. Light fruit. Clear medium gold. Foamy translucent white head. Sweet citrus (so a touch sour) honey and malts. Light bitterness on the periphery. A hint of soggy cardboard. As I drink more the sourness amps up, if not to particularly high levels. Light. Thin. Average-fizzy carbonation. Long dry finish. Refreshing enough.
