2.7 Palmers Dorset Pale Aug 2022. Keg at the brewery (very cold). Bottle at home (room temperature). The cold keg was a pointless drink. Intended simply as a cold, harmless refresher, the flavour is suppressed by the cold. Served at room temperature more character and flavour is produced. Grainy cereal sweetness. Citra hops put in the boil too early so the fragrance is somewhat diminished. Served warm this isn't a bad beer. Not great, but certainly not bad, and better than it presents when chilled. OK. [2.7] Wednesday, August 24, 2022

3.1 Palmers 200 Sunny Aug 2022 Cask at Palmer's Brewery, 500ml dark, filtered, bottle at our holiday chalet. A hearty and chewy premium bitter. Not too bitter. But not too malty. An ok, but not that impressive beer. Better fresh from the cask than from the bottle, but to be fair, not by much.[3.0] Jan 2004. Cask Fresh @ The Claret - a Freehouse, Near Croyden. A dull bronze Bitter colour with a slowly popping foamy bubble head half covering the top. Medium bodied. Orange flower aroma with a light citric zest. Slightly tangy orange in the flavour with minimal hop awareness. A pleasant enough beer but lacks real distinction or character. [3.1] Tuesday, August 23, 2022

3.8 Palmers Copper Ale Sunny Aug 2022, Royal Standard, Lyme Regis. Bloody gorgeous! [4.0] Feb 2018 Junction Inn, Southampton. Soft, sweet, nutty session beer. Hint of crystal malt. Finishes dry with a lingering dusty bitterness. I like it. [3.6] Tuesday, August 23, 2022

4.5 Palmers Tally Ho! Aug 2022. Cask at the brewery, bottle at home. This is a great beer. Proper malty beer. It's brown bread, fruit cake, butterscotch, caramel, licorice, twigs, leaves, forest fires and sex in the dust. It's a gorgeous beer. According to the brewery, Adnams Broadside is based on this beer. Probably not, but it is a beer to be admired and copied. Nice one. [4.5] July 2003. Cask, Claret Free House, Near Croyden. Darkest russet brown with cappuccino head. Initially nasty cheap hand soap floral aroma but becomes more woody and raisin like as drink progresses. Sweet stout flavours with a mingle of liquor. Mmm, this grows in flavours - moving into Imperial Stout territory. A damn fine ale, beautifully served - slightly warmer than previous two drinks in the same pub, as appropriate for a beer of this style. [4.0] Tuesday, August 23, 2022

3.5 Palmers Tally Ho! Bottled, 500ml at The Why Not Inn, Chickerell, Dorset. Dark chestnut with cream head. Good job I checked, could have sworn I had rated this. Lively pour, took a few goes. There are dark, rich fruits to the fore along with burnt caramel flavours. Fuller on the palate, not getting an Old Ale twang anywhere. Some liquorice, some late bitterness. It's decent enough. Earlier Rating: 11/19/2016 Total Score: 4 Cask conditioned at Banbury Beer Festival ’16. Dark chestnut with cream head. Full and fruity beer with a nutty character, roasty hazelnuts, sultanas and raisins. Very pleasant and easily drinkable. Earlier Rating: 12/12/2003 Total Score: 3.9 Cask Conditioned at The Anchor, Seatown, Dorset. Deep chestnut colour with tan head. This is a heady alcohol licorice flavoured beer with a fruity warm mouthfeel. A sipping beer to be savoured. Monday, June 21, 2021
