Zlotta	3.4 Stephanus-Bräu Weihnachts-Doppelbock 0.5 l bottle as 'Stephanus Bräu Winterdoppelbock' at 8.8% abv, best before Christmas Eve 2018. Clear, deep ruby with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, light beige head. Sweetish-malty, quite fruity, a little sourish aroma of molasses, raisins, prunes and red berries. Quite sweet, malty, gently fruity taste of molasses, caramel, raisins and prunes, followed by a short moderately bitter, a bit boozy and a little tartish finish. Medium to full body, gently effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Decent stuff, somewhat unusual for a Doppelbock, typical for a Hausbrauerei though. Friday, December 28, 2018

Sweetish, gently grassy-spicy and slightly floral taste of grains, grass and light citrus peel. Gently sweet, moderately bitter, quite grassy-spicy and slightly floral taste of grains, grass and some citrus peel, followed by a short, moderately bitter, quite grassy-spicy finish. Thin to medium body, moderately effervescent mouthfeel, average to lively carbonation. Nice Lager again, extremely quaffable and refreshing, somehow just a lighter version of the 'Coesfelder Ur-Typ' though. Tuesday, December 18, 2018

Sweetish, gently grassy-spicy and slightly floral aroma of grains, hay and a touch of lemon peel. Moderately sweet, just slightly bitter, gently grassy-spicy and slightly floral taste of grains, hay and some lemon peel, followed by a short, moderately bitter, gently grassy-spicy finish. Thin to medium body, quite effervescent mouthfeel, very lively carbonation. Very decent Lager with a bit more hops than usual. Monday, December 17, 2018
Idiosynkrasie	3.3 Stephanus-Bräu Grünhopfen 500ml bottle. Cloudy, reddish-brown colour with average, thick, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, white head. Mellow malty aroma with a touch of chocolate and caramel, not much hop action, a grassy and mineral touch at best. Taste is sweet-ish malty, minimally chocolately, a touch of caramel, slightly fruity and minimally grassy hoppy notes of berries and mirabelle; minimally metallic finish. Harmonious composition with nice subtleties and high drinkability, not as hoppy as you'd expext from a Grünhopfen beer. Thursday, October 18, 2018
Idiosynkrasie	3.2 Stephanus-Bräu Coesfelder Urtyp 500ml bottle. Minimally cloudy, copper-ish amber colour with average, thick, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, white head. Grainy and strawy, caramel malty, minimally citrusy hoppy aroma. Taste is sweet-ish, pale and caramel malty, minimally doughy yeasty, citrusy hoppy overtones with a cautious touch of lemon and mirabelle. Again not bad for a typical German Brauhaus beer. Idiosynkrasie	3.1 Stephanus-Bräu Naturtrüb 500ml bottle. Cloudy golden colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Husky, strawy, grainy, slightly bready and spicy, malty aroma, hints of hay, protein, yeast, a cautious touch of horse dung. Taste is sweet-ish, minimally husky, biscuity pale malty, fruity hoppy complement with hints of apricot, mirabelle, quince, a touch of mandarine; creamy-oily texture, soft palate, gentle but efficacious carbonation accounts for freshness and high drinkability. Slightly daunting nose (due to the non-appearance of fruitiness), but suasive concerning taste and palate. Sunday, October 14, 2018

Erzengel	2.8 Stephanus-Bräu Frühlingsbock Smooth malty beginning with sour parts. The caramel is there, the sourness as well. Nice refreshing, but I think the sourness is not intended - but here as with other beers from this brewery, they turn sour way too quick - even when stored in the fridge. Hints of smoke there, very refreshing with a nice fruity background. Well balanced, fruity with hints of sourness. No bitterness there, sour-fruity with malty hints in the end. Nice. The taste is as it smells, a touch sweet but not too much, a finely balanced brew with depth of flavor. Medium/ full body with very elegant carbonation. Wow...a very refined brew!! Erzengel	4.1 Stephanus-Bräu Weihnachts-Doppelbock 50 cl bottle, bought at the brewpub. Dark in the glass with a nice beige head. The nose is sweetish-fresh, red fruit (cherries), hints of alcohol. The beer starts intense liquorice, smooth with lots of dark malt. Sweetish-smooth. Sweet dark chocolate, dried plums, intense malt, but still highly drinkable. Fresh hints, smooth yeast is there as well. The aftertaste is thick, smooth, intense malty with only hints of bitterness and a very low amount of roast. Im Hauptteil fisch, süffig, etwas süßer als das "Original" und nicht so herb. Mild-weich und sehr süffig. Aber auch nicht so charakteristisch ausgeprägt wie das "Original". Etwas dunkelmalziger. Der Hauptteil ist weich-mild, zum Nachgeschmack hin recht herb werdend, wie ein gutes trübes Pils. Auf der Zunge bleibt eine mittellange, leicht getreidig-trockene und herb-aromatische Note. MiP	3.2 Stephanus-Bräu Naturtrüb Draught at the brewpub. Good refreshing yeasty aroma, hint of lemon. Cloudy yellow colour. Big stable creamy white head. The flavour is also refreshing, not as flavourful as the aroma suggests, but quite nice. A little bread and yeast followed by sweetness and lemon. Sunday, March 15, 2009
