3 Bahamian Sands Pink Radler Clear bottle bought in Nassau, Bahamas. Pours a clear grapefruit juice color with a fizzy, faint pink head and fair retention. No lacing. Sweet grapefruit flavor with little bitterness. Clean, crisp and refreshing, but not really any beer flavor. Light, watery mouthfeel, more like a soda. Saturday, December 7, 2019

3.4 Bahamian Strong Back Stout 11.15 oz. bottle bought in Nassau, Bahamas. Pours a clear very dark ruby color with a thick light tan head and great retention. Very good lacing. Molasses aroma. Dark molasses and slight licorice flavor. Thick mouthfeel and heavy body. The 7.6% ABV is very well hidden. Better than most foreign stouts, but I'm still not a fan of the style. 2.8 Bahamian Sands Beer This is currently my reigning go-to local macro beer when visiting the Bahamas! After enjoying several cans of this drinkable brew, for the sake of the scientific method I poured a can of this into a glass side-by-side with a glass of Sands Light. This brew featured strong clear yellow gold color, noticeably fuller colored than the Sands Light, with bright white foam. Has a generic macro-lager aroma of spent grain and slightly sweet malt, but is clean and fresh on the nose. Flavor follows with more pale malt, light bready grain, and also an interesting light citrus fruit note if you look for it, which brings a small nice touch of complexity for a standard macro-lager style. Some slight straw hop bitterness in the finish. Still light-bodied, but not as straight watery as the Light version. Overall, this is probably the best Caribbean macro-lager I have tasted, and is great for washing Bahamian saltwater out of your mouth after snorkeling in the ocean! Oh and it's no contest that I would recommend this over Kalik by far. Wednesday, August 22, 2018

2.5 Bahamian Sands Light Well for my first trip to the Bahamas as an adult, this was my introduction to Bahamian beer, and as an American craft beer drinker I was honestly pleasantly surprised at the smooth and clean drinkable flavor of this light lager. Pours a weak pale straw color with lots of lacing and a small top of white foam - the color and carbonation is reminiscent of a Champagne. Aroma is a mild pungent grain and adjunct corn flavor, the weakness of the aroma however is actually an asset as it doesn't highlight any off flavors as you repeatedly bring this quaffable brew to your mouth. The surprisingly flavorful and refreshing taste is the highlight of this beer, as it features a classic light grain malt with notes of straw, and finishes clean with a slightly sweet pale malt. Almost as light-bodied as water, but that coupled with the low 4.2% ABV makes this a great all-day session beer for relaxing at a beautiful Bahamian beach. Sands Light - better than Bud Light by far, and well-suited to the weather and environment of its home locale. Sands also gets my vote over Kalik for best Bahamian macro-brew.
