Always trying to sample new micros and foreign beers. I like just about every style there is to offer especially the stronger Ales, Barley Wines, Belgians, IPAs, and Stouts.
--My Rating Scale--
4.5 to 5.0 - Perfect
4.0 to 4.4 - Outstanding
3.5 to 3.9 - Excellent
3.0 to 3.4 - Good
2.5 to 2.9 - Fair
2.0 to 2.4 - Marginal
1.0 to 1.9 - Mass Drinking Beer
Below 1.0 - Swill
Perfect - As good as one can get in beers. Exceptional in all categories, and very hard to improve upon, if not impossible, in any way.
Outstanding - Great beer to drink, one which I’ll hunt for. Enjoyable in every respect but for some reason, not necessarily even a quantifiable one, I can’t give them a Perfect rating.
Excellent - A very nice beer. Easy to drink, enjoyable and tasty but doesn’t have the qualities of an Outstanding beer.
Good - The common beer to be found in most places. Not really exceptional in any regard, but overall quite nice. Generally a bit less refined than better quality beers, though by no means bad to drink.
Fair - A beer that is ok for drinking, but is not as good as higher ranked beers. Drinkable but nothing outstanding about it in any way.
Marginal - A beer which isn’t really worth it’s weight and one easily replaced by others more highly rated for the same price.
Mass Drinking Beer - This contains most of the American mass-production lagers and other swill people say is beer. Should never be drunk unless the point is to get drunk cheaply, or one has been out on a hot day and you want water.
Swill - Beers to be avoided at all costs. Not worth the cost of brewing them in the first place and one should be paid to drink them.
