I am a beer lover. I don’t buy into "pigeon-holing", seasonal drinking (style is irrelevant to time of year, I drink what I want when I want)I’m not governed by popular branding or other peoples ratings, and I don’t like sticking to what’s safe, the only important things to me are: quality, passion and some sense of originality - that’s not to say I don’t like the old classics or even cliche ideas; in my opinion there’s nothing wrong with old favourites or well re-invented cliche’s. Some of my favourite beers defy convention, examples that instantly spring to mind would be, Black Pig by The Old Cannon Brewery, or Brouwerij te Lochristi’s Maelstrom. I love my hops, proper IPA’s 6%+ not the bland, sweet chewy crap banded about by some of the larger breweries, who have soiled the name of true IPA. Stouts and Impy stouts float my boat (see anything by Mikkeller)they don’t have to be strong abv-wise but I do prefer them to be mouth filling and creamy. I suppose I tend to lean a little bit more towards Belgian beer but I do love my English Ale. A good cross over has to be most of the Durham Brewery create. That doesn’t sum up everything, but it’ll do for now. Other than that, my mission is to explore the deep space of unique and boutique beers that are out there and to constantly expand both palate and mind. Cheers!
