74 Two visits, fall of 2014 and a year later. I can tell you that this place has a lot more than the 20-30 bottles listed in the description now, but I wasn’t counting at the time - probably in the neighborhood of 100-150 though, just about all craft and mostly Midwestern - I do remember seeing Little Kings though, and almost buying it for nostalgia’s sake. Anyway, a solid selection with lots of stuff you don’t see in the southern part of the state, prices OK and there apparently are usually some specials that are pretty good deals. It’s also one of the nicer and larger food co-ops I’ve visited - and I’ve visited a lot of them, and worked in one for 7 years. Separate restaurant on the upper level; don’t remember if you can get alcohol there - we were there for breakfast. I haven’t checked out nearly all the beer stores in the area but I’m sure this fine place is at least somewhat competitive, and it is quite close to the downtown bar area. |
62 As a beer place, which is supposed to be what these reviews are about, not a lot going on here. Better selection to be had at festival foods in town. Some new glarus, Wisconsin locals, nothing special. |
80 Been going here since 2001. Food has always been stellar, great sandwiches, steak potato salad, salsa, etc. Beer selection is slightly above average at best, but they always have a good deal of all the New Glarus offerings. Worth a stop for lunch if you’re in town. |
62 The Co-op merits an entry for the price of Belgian Red: $6.79!!! I haven’t it seen it that cheap in several years. They keep up to date with the New Glarus products (sans the Unplugged) and offer a small but assorted collection of other craft beers from WI, as well as a few items from abroad. Their beer person is very friendly and willing to order products that will sell. Worth a stop for the Belgian Red and for the baked goods and organic products. Their coffee needs work, however. |
54 Very decent food co-op. The selection of beers available is decent. A fair amount of local micros and better distributed large micros.
Their food is pretty worthwhile as well.
The service I’ve received is pretty decent. Nothing to write home about, but most people are helpful. |
