The Zwickl is amazing. For me a Must when in Munich. Traditional Food and as grumpy service as anywhere in Bayern. A must go. 2 other weizens on tap which I didnt Try. 5.10 Euro for 0,5 Zwickl.

January 6 2024, restaurant visit: Visited with the @@ b-day crew, for dinner. The interior of the brewpub is quite impressive, as expected, sprawling. More professional service when we visited, so raising that score. Tried the food and the Braumeisterschnitzel (two pork loin cuts, one coated with Obazda, one with spent malt probably, were delicious, the portion being okay, 20€ for that. Tried the Zwickl this time and it was quite nice as well (5.20€), the Weizen maybe not 4.0 as before but still great (5.40€), and the seasonal Archibald stout (5.50€) pleasant and well balanced. The food quality is pretty high here, so I'd definitely recommend it for that, if your budget allows it. All in all upscale, but I reckon they do follow that with quality, so I'm okay with the place. The limited selection keeps the score down, but I'd go there over almost any central tourist trap bar maybe Schneider, which this place has beat when it comes to the basic weisse. June 13 2023, Biergarten visit: Visited with Jonas. Classic brewpub located on the former Thomasbräu premises, very easy to reach from the Goetheplatz U-Bahn station (though you should probably go to Poccistr., hit Bierkiste, and then move to here and onwards). Didn't check the inside of the pace, but the pictures look nice, vaulted ceilings, light colors, classical decor. The Biergarten was very nice as well, a pleasant place to drink beer / have lunch. For some reasons, a part of it is sometimes off limits, which we found out only after we passed by the service, sat down, then came back to order. Gee, thx bro, could've told us immediately. 3 beers on tap as we visited (2 regulars + seasonal) - skipped the Zwickl this time, but the Weisse was world-class, the best clove/vanilla dominated one I, a rabid banana fan, have ever tried perhaps. Huge props to the young brewer! They change(d) brewers a bit, and this one's Weizen is exemplary, but her seasonal PhilIPA (Cascade/Mittelfrüh (?!!?!)) was sub par, and even less impressive considering the 5.50€/0.5l price. Sadly, I missed out on their Citra Weizen by two days. Oh well. The service was... of the type where 3 different waiters come to you in 5-10 minutes asking for this and while they were professional and polite, no reproach there, I'm not a fan of the concept. Still, I'll return here next time for a Zwickl and the new seasonal I guess. It's not far from many relevant places these days, so if you're around, you should probably give it a visit, despite the prices. 5/6/6/15

Large place, both inside and beergarden wise. Service was ok for German standards, meaning it was not too slow. Beers were fresh enough so we didn't mind. Pork knee was big enough to share between 2 people.

A little bit overpriced, but if you're a fan of Paulaner then of course you need to pop for a visit.

Didn't get to check the inside, but the biergarten is large and was rather busy in the early evening. Selection is limited to three of their beers on tap, didn't check the bottles. Hefe was the best, but was quite similar to their regular hefeweizen. OK for at quick stop I guess, but not a must visit.

Visited with jonas and SinH4 late evening on a weekday and it was so full we struggled to find a spot to sit. Beer was good and food was decent. Location was not prime for a visitor but not at all difficult to get to by the underground. If you go here, you need to walk a few blocks to Frieches Bier.

I visited here back in November 20198 and once again I thought that I had already reviewed but clearly hadn't, so I visited again Sunday 12th May 2019. It is quite a large place located on Kapuziner Platz which is well served by public transport, I got the 58 bus back to Hautbanhof, however en-route the U3 U-Bahn and got off at Goetheplatz which is just a short walk along Haberlstrasse to get to this place. Inside it is quite open, modern and airy, last time we visited we ate, btw the food was traditional, hearty and very good, and we sat in a panelled smaller room towards the back, on this occasion I sat alongside the copper brewing kit opposite the bar as I was just drinking. The barman was very friendly and was keen to know if I was enjoying the beer that I had ordered which was their own and a Ironi Hopfenkonigin (Pilsner) it was very good. The place was starting to thin out as most of the Sunday lunch crowd had now eaten and had left, but there were a few folk like me who were just here for a beer. I really liked it here, it was friendly, service was good, spotlessly clean with the waiting staff constantly going around and tidying up vacated tables, also the atmosphere was quite chilled, in fact it was a very good Sunday afternoon spot. The only one very minor quibble was that the beer seemed a little more expensive than I'd had a similar establishments but that aside a very nice place.

Easy to find, minor detour. Fairly large, professional and efficient in a good way. People enjoyed their food, no vegan option obviously duh. 3 beers on tap which were all very solid and interesting. Bit more modern interior with still lots of wood. Worth a modest detour.
