| KPD (64), Michigan | | May 21, 2012 In town for memorial cup, what a gem. 12 beers on draft 10 in house 2 guest beers. Food and staff were fantastic, they had a lot of lighter session beers, wheats, blonds, a very good American style ipa, my favorite, a good dry stout. One guest tap was DDC imperial stout, nice. All in all a very good brew pub. Un must. | | VT (16), Quebec City, Quebec | | November 19, 2011 A very beautiful brewpub with helpful personnel. Their beer is already known all the way across the province of Quebec, thus no need to comment on it (ok, just here: it’s amazing). What’s most interesting about the place is the quality of its food, which GREATLY surpasses that of any brewpub I had ever been to in my life. Great food, great beer, great ambiance. Too bad it’s so small and one has to reserve 3 months in advance. Also, too bad there isn’t also one in Quebec City, or in Montreal, or both! | | philippem (11), Montréal, Quebec | | August 11, 2011 After many, many, many, many, many, many, many years (but maybe not that much) of wait, I finally went to this establishment at the end of June, 2011 --- a date I will always remember --- untill I forget it --- !!!
Ambiance is top notch --- this place has the most beautiful decor I had the chance to see in any brewpub or beer places I got to visit during my (young for the moment) years of beer mania. It also gets jammed pretty quickly so come early. The food that we ordered was oustanding by brewpub standard (it is surely rivalizing with The Alchemist and Bobcat Café on this matter). I got a delicious hamburger (made out of tasty lamb), while my father got a incredible steak tartare de bison. Beer selection was pretty nice, ranging from good (La Blanche de Shawi, La Pitoune), to very good (L’Amère Indienne) to uber-good (Dubaï Pillée!!!). This last beer was so delectable that I couldn’t resist and ordered it 3 times in a row, enjoying it in front of the superb St-Maurice river.
For sure, this is a must-go and I will definitively return, when I’ll be out of here. | | Wolfking (10), Quebec | | July 3, 2011 Why there no place like this around home, why it has to be in Shawi, why oh why!
Wicked beers, and more I go the wicked they get. The food is simply superb. I want one here! | wooool (5), montreal, Quebec does not count - explanation | | March 22, 2011 Nice place, with a huge museum of beer. Selection is good and beer is interesting. Food is not so interesting and prices are really high.
| Roli (4), laval, Quebec does not count - explanation | | January 3, 2011 I went to Le trou du diable in the end of november of 2010. It was a Saturday evening, the place was packed, but they still managed to find a place for me and my girlfriend to have dinner and a degustation. I had a delicious ’’Tartare de Bison’’ and had the chance to sample every beer available. I had an indigestion after that, but its kind of my fault (crude meat is not for me...).
The staff was friendly, the beer were excellent and the food was great. Do not miss that one!
Bravo Le Trou du Diable | | JulienHuxley (64), Trois-Rivieres, Quebec | | April 30, 2010 [ Updated April 16, 2012 ] Second visit to this pub, very nice ambiance, quite cozy. The staff is friendly and the bar offers a rotating variety of their beers, which have always been in fine shape according to me. They also have a nice rotating selection (about a dozen bottles) of fine scotch, but it is available at a premium price. The food is awesome, the chef prepares lots of meals with local products and fancy meats like bison, trout, duck etc. Kitchen is open Tuesday-Sunday from 5 PM to 11 PM. The place is getting to be well known around town, if you want a table in the evening, you better call to make a reservation first. Or just visit in the afternoon when it is quiet. They have some good snacks available if the kitchen is closed. Prices are definately within the reasonable range, very good value. |
