15 mins walk from the railway station, large place, with a good visual display of the beer menu at big screen as you enter.17 HP at my visit, and thats the best JDW I have visited in a while. My beer was in good shape.

Visited 30/12/2016, interior is very much like most city centre spoons, however where this wins is its selection of cask ales handily displayed on an LCD television. Plenty of ticks for me could have stayed much longer but we had a number of other places to visit on the day. Toilets are up a number of flights of stairs. Beers I has were served in top notch form.

Spoons aren’t generally bars to rave about, but this one is an exception. Older, experienced barmen, very interesting beer choice (a lot of stouts & porters when I visited). Who cares about anything else? Value for money and choice in a compact city centre spoiled for choice.

A pretty special Wetherspoons, especially considering it’s not a new or renovated one. Very much in the old style 90’s Spoons. But the beer is a cut above. I counted 16 cask ales (so not counting the macro shit it’s 12), including the laudable Sarah Hughes Dark Ruby. There’s an electronic board which lists the available beers which is a help. Fairly average selection of craft with a few local beers thrown in. This is one of the top 5 Spoons I’ve been to and though you’re spoiled for choice in Derby, I recommend it highly.

Visited on 22nd May 2016. Large Spoons on the edge of the city centre. Decoration is a bit tired but the highlight is the excellent range of cask ales displayed on screens with an indication of style. Prices are low, service was good. The place was fairly quiet on our visit. Beers we tried were well kept.

A large ‘spoons with a nice library area at the back and - exceptionally - no Abbot or Ruddles in sight! Well, at first glance anyway. I did spot them later, tucked away to one side. Apparently the cellarman here is keen to bring in a wider range of beers and he’s been allowed some free rein to do so. It shows - the beer list (18 casks) is very good and all the beers are listed on a large television screen so they can be updated as and when they change. Perhaps one of the best Wetherspoon pubs I’ve been to in terms of the beers on offer. (Visited 14 February 2015).

Visited february 2015 with beery friends. Cosy pub, traditionel spoon pub, placed in the town center. Very clean pub and friendly staff. They do some nice breakfast and have a good range of beers, served in good condition. One of the best JDW I have visited. Was rather busy this saturday morning.

One of the best Wetherspoons I have been to when it comes to choice of cask ales. All together 18 hand-pumps displaying beers from small breweries like Falstaff, Wentworth, Pennine and Small World. A TV screen above the bar shows the beer menu - very informative. Otherwise a rather typical JDW with an open plan outlook, and most important, clean toilet facilities. Central location, just off the pedestrian area in town (visit twice 21.02 and 22.02.2015).
