84 Quite an interesting and unique place for sure with its own vibe but I cannot say that I quite grasped the reputation. Quite a mezzanine feel to the place, interior looks like a pub mixed with a 2000s Middle-Eastern restaurant with some plastic bats and wall painting thrown in for good measure. 4 cask and about 16 keg beers, quite an eclectic mix of beers going from their own to Black Isle, Campervan, Thistly Corss, Siren, Northern Monk, Põhjala, traditional mixed with modern, almost randomly, they even had Jupiler 0.0% in bottles, equally odd largely modern craft beer canned selection. Not sure if they follow their muse or just get everything and anything. Definitely interesting things to get but nothing that really struck me as wow they have this. No pints, 1/2 1/3 for all beers, tad more expensive, my IIIPA came in an almost funny sized small glass. Odd but fun for sure even if I didn't quite get the hype. |
70 Sadly not what it was beerwise, used to be one of the best in the country but lately seems to have quite a few empty taps and those that aren't empty don't have the exciting beers they once did. Still a nice place to hang out for an hour, but doesn't have the beers to keep one occupied for an afternoon any more |
82 My favorite spot in Edinburgh. Also one of the best beer selection in Edinburgh
Walking distance from the main city center
Lovely ambiance
Helpful and knowledgeable staff |
86 Went here when I was on family vacation, was great to meet up with Craig for the afternoon. This was our first spot. Very interesting tap list with lots to choose from. Well worth finally making it here. Staff is very helpful. |
92 Great selection of beer and the food was pretty good. Nice venue with lots of seating. |
78 Quite big pub in more levels. You may stay at the bar level, go down or go up. If you go up there will be even more two levels, one of them is, however, just a few steps down. All over are old sort of worn out wooden tables and chairs, in the cellar you will also find benches. At my visit the place had 3 cask ales from a brewery in Manchester as well of 2 brewed by themselves. 13 taps totally, not all of them with beer though. Quite a good deal of bottled beer. I did, however, not spot any rare ones, could be my falt. Funny looking toilets for batmen and batwomen. A few cafetables outside. Soft-rock music plaid at a level where people could still comunicate. Friendly and humourous staff. Fair prices both with regard to beers and food. Did not eat there. |
80 It’s the top-rated bar in Edinburgh for a reason. The taplist is relatively small but really well-curated. 1/3 pints are available of all beers, with above average prices. Lines at the bar can get long. Decent service. Plenty of interior seating in a comfortable and nice environment, including a few seats out front on the main street and a nice beer garden out back. Great spot and definitely worth visiting when in Edinburgh. |
66 Popped in on a Tuesday afternoon. Almost empty, quite a knowledgeable lady at the bar. Good selection of local and some international beers cask+keg. A decent looking food menu with the standard pub fare. |
90 Stop on a short tour with cgarvieuk. Wow! This place is world class. Really great atmosphere, friendly vibe, amazing tap list. Too much to take in on one visit, everything was just top notch. Fodd was good, service was great, just a wonderful feeling all around. It can get crowded. |
92 One of my favourite bars judging on my couple of visits, afternoon midweek visits so fairly quiet, outstanding ales + sours and decent food, a must visit as soon as I get to Edinburgh |
