A brief stop on the abbreviated Chicago beer tour with TheAlum and deyholla.
Nice patio area, but since it was pouring down rain, nobody sitting outside. Kind of dark inside on a late night, but still a pretty decent number of people. Kind of lax service at that point, more of a seat yourself situation. Larger restaurant with plenty of seating in the bar and main dining area, as well as a second room in the back.
The server was good. Though he did seem a bit surprised by my request to try ALL of the beers, though.
Beer quality on the whole was above average with a few winners and no real bad beers. Had a hot dog while we were here and it was quite good, though a little spendy at something near $10.
Overall, a good place and I’d probably come back the next time I’m in Chicago.

My visit here last spring left me with a good impression of the big business potential of craft beer in a major city - a pretty intriguing thing to see in comparison to the relatively nascent craft beer movement in Minneapolis. The place was truly packed on a Friday at five pm. The beers were mostly serviceable, and unmemorable, perhaps befitting the sports bar personality that seemed most common in the crowd.

Really enjoyed my visit to this place. It has a fairly sports barish feel to it. At the same time, it has a beer bar sense as well. The Blackhawks were playing in the Western Confernce Finals, so it may have felt more sports barish than it usually does. As for the beer, I thought the house beers were all pretty tasty, and I enjoyed the varying sizes they offered for all drafts. The guest taps were varied and enjoyable as well. Our server was pretty much excellent. I see myself returning here quite often when in town.

Stopped in after visiting Revolution and the Radler. We ate lunch, decent food selection. The beer selection was very good. We sat in the back and had to wait for a table. The front was reserved for a party or something. So it was a little crowded, but we survived. Our server was little busy due to the hockey playoff game going on. Worth the visit, would definitely return.

Stopped in on Sunday afternoon after DLD. This was my 3rd visit. On this one there was a dog event in the main room so everyone had to squeeze into the back bar area during a Blackhawks / Blues playoff game. Have liked the food here on each visit as well as the beers. A frequently rotating list of their offerings. Parking is always a challenge. A quality stop in all ways.

Very nice place in downtown Chicago. Quite a big place with a long bar on your right as you enter. Not very crowded and we got to seats at the bar right away, maybe since this was the first spring day in Chicago. Beer selection was very nice with 11 of their own beers on tap, plus 8-10 guest taps from Allagash, Port Brewing and more. They did not serve actual flights but all beers were available in small sampling glasses. Service was really good and the burgers were really tasty. A very nice experience and I will visit again if I come back to Chicago.

Larger than expected, no wait for a seat. Wait staff was nice and attentive. Decent tap list with some guest beers available as well. Food was good, but not why you would come here. Taster pours are a good deal and you can get them in any quantity.

Sweet refuge on an infernally hot afternoon, ducked in here for a couple and was pleasantly surprised by the beers and, to a lesser extent, the food. Spacious, dark and cool, with a convivial mid-afternoon crowd. Great range of in-house beers on tap, including several very sessionable farmhouse brews and similar. Seems to get less chatter than some other places, but I was impressed.

Haymarket is located in a large brick building in downtown Chicago on the corner of West Randolph and North Halsted. Metered street parking is available in the surrounding area, as is some free parking in front of the stores on Randolph.
The interior opens to the bar area, with a small space by the host stand devoted to merch. Beyond that is the bar on the right, with a view of the tap handles behind it. The left side of the room has table seating, and provides a view of the brewing equipment behind windows. Hanging lights, burnt sienna colored walls and TVs placed around the bar.
Haymarket has around 20 taps, including 16 of their own beers on my visit. They offer different serving sizes including samples. During my visit they had a Kolsch, Pils, a couple Pale Ales and Belgians, and a few IPAs, Barley Wine and a Smoked Porter. All of the beers were decent with a couple standouts.
Service on a weekday evening at the bar was good. The bartender was knowledgeable about their beer menu and made recommendations of other spots to visit in the area.
I did not have any food on my visit.
Overall this is a solid brewpub to visit in Chicago.
