cwrwhughes (3), Baggillt, Flint, England does not count - explanation | | April 3, 2012 It does brew, seasonals and one off beers | | lethe (10), New York | | March 9, 2012 This has grown to be my favorite brewery in Berlin. In a trendy neighborhood with a younger, hipster clientele mixed in with an older crowd and a fair amount of auslanders. Every beer I have had has been well crafted and I have really enjoyed their seasonals. I really like their mix of traditional German brewpub with slightly newer, American-influenced styles: this is found in their making of fairly traditional German styles infused with American hops. Service has always been great and friendly. Definitely worth a stop in Berlin and, again, the best blending of newer styles of beer ingredients and traditional German beers in the city. | | edpeg (30), Berlin, Germany | | February 20, 2012 A nice brewpub with 3 regulars, cider and seasonal. Prices are decent and affordable. The atmosphere if quite typical pub/kneipe in the area, (not puritanical beer monger)) with distinction of serving good unfiltered brews. Can be really packed on Fridays. Constant soccer/football on the TV is rather annoying, since it is main attraction not the beer. The customers are rather young 20-40 yo. etc which is fine. Recommended. | | culchiem (25), , Germany | | January 21, 2012 Brewpub in an old butcher shop. Super atmosphere, cool and chilled during the day, buzzing at night. Football and that German institution Tatort on TV. Beer is decent with 3 regulars and a special that changes on about a monthly basis. What one should expect when you mix the international view of Berlin with a pub. | rawalli (8), , Germany does not count - explanation | | January 17, 2012 Friendly staff, good vibes, reasonable fresh beer for reasonable prices. What else you want from an all-day-beer-pub ? O.K. - this is NOT the beer-geek´s paradise. Who cares ? This is probably one of the most interesting beer-places in Berlin to meet people, to drink (a lot) and to have fun... | | Leighton (227), London, England | | January 8, 2012 Great place. Jammed on a Friday night, and not surprisingly. Four house beers (three regular, one seasonal), which were all excellent. Friendly bartender. Good prices. Great looking place; the draft system, in particular, is quite attractive. I could picture this place fitting quite well in Williamsburg (Brooklyn) or something; it’s got that kind of feel to it. A must visit when in Berlin. | | EithCubes (158), , Germany | | November 24, 2011 Sometimes everything comes together for a transcendent experience: an excellent mix of unpretentious people (much harder to find here than it should be), cheerful staff, fun occasional banter with the owner, a revered old pooch who’s seen many days commanding those tiles. Beautiful authentic repurposed space. Outstanding and character-full homemade beer, perfect accompanying bar nosh, and dirt cheap prices for the area. There may come a time when the sun does shine on the Hops and Barley, but I hope to never see it! | | ogivlado (242), Zagreb, Croatia | | November 2, 2011 Small coasy and mostly youth place not far from the U-Bahn. Three house beers plus one seasonal (Brown Ale) and one cider at the time. Not so loud music, reasonable prices. Recommended. | | JanLaursen (30), Copenhagen, Denmark | | October 21, 2011 The selection of beer is small and typically German, eg very conservative (pils, dunkel, hefe). But the beer is wellmade and much better than your average German beer and definitely more rich in flavor. Warm atmosphere and informative service, but it’s the staff and the cusumers who make up the ambiance. The barroom in itself is nothing special. | | Christian (159), Odense, Denmark | | October 17, 2011 Nice little place, in the middle of Berlin’s hipster neighbourhood. Real beer passion behind the bar, and I was instantly recognized as a Ratebeerian - my notebook and request for samplers didn’t do much to hide it either. The samplers was a nice touch since there are more than the usual two varieties here. Next time I hope I’ll have more time to stay and chat. The beers were a bit unclean - the usual brewpub problem. |
