82 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 18/20 Scott_David (5) , | March 30, 2013 Best airport bar I’ve ever been to for craft beer. Selection isn’t huge, but it’s all quality Cigar City brews (obviously) some of which can be exclusive to the location. Food is simple cuban/mexican, and good quality for an airport restaurant. Service is always excellent. FYI this is in the Southwest terminal and I never miss a chance to stop by. | 58 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD 5/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 12/20 DiarmaidBHK (546) Pennsylvania | October 11, 2012 Granted it’s an airport bar and 99% of them really, really suck. Still why would Cigar City lend their name to such an inferior experience. The servers didn’t know a ton about the beer which was served in refridgerated glasses. They only have 6 of their beers on tap, including the exclusive tony jannus pale ale, plus a couple of BMC’s. I ordered the soft pretzel sticks and they were very bland and lacked salt. it was just a very mediocre experience but at least you can get some craft beer, at hyper-inflated prices of course, at the airport. | 78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 18/20 maekchu (31) Hirakata, Japan | August 12, 2012 Open for two months now. Located in a wide airy section of Airside C. Corner-shaped bar with seating for 20 people. Beers on tap included four CCB regulars, one seasonal, and airport exclusive Tony Jannus Pale Ale, as well as Stella Artois and Bud Light. Pints and samplers (of four beers). Also a selection of spirits, wine, and bottled beer. The food menu looked good, if a bit pricey: small plates, entrees, salads, soups, sandwiches, and desserts. There is a tiny (1.5 barrel) brew system, on which they produce the Tony Jannus Pale Ale. Apparently this is the only brewpub in a US airport. Very friendly staff, who were interested in discussing the beers. Good place to sample some of the CCB regulars. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 1/10 OVERALL 18/20 hopscotch (199) Vero Beach , Florida | August 3, 2012 The nicest looking food and beverage service place in the terminal. The brick structure really sets the tone. The food is expensive for Cuban food, but it’s an airport, so this is to be expected. What was unexpected was how good my Cuban sandwich was. I was reluctant to order it, because it’s an airport terminal and staffed by an airport contractor, but I’ll be darned if it wasn’t one of the best Tampa-style Cuban sandwiches I’ve ever had. There’s a whole lotta Joey Redner in the menu. The sandwich had more salami than most Tampa Cubans and I really enjoyed the Swiss cheese, ciabatta bread and huge pickle slices inside. The Virginia ham was a very nice touch as well. Plantain chips were a nice accompaniment. The beer selection isn’t huge (Jai Alai, Maduro, Hotter Than Helles, Florida Cracker Wit), but the Tony Jannus Pale Ale was a real treat. Brewed on a small system right there in the airport, this is a pale ale that made my long layover in Tampa totally worth it. It’s also available only in the airport from what I hear. | 72 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 15/20 markwise (157) North of Tampa, Florida | June 25, 2012 Stopped in on a Monday as I was flying out of Tampa. They are operated by the airport and not the brewery. They have a nice selection of Cigar City beer if you don’t have time to visit the brewery, but don’t expect Barrel Aged Hunahpu. They have a brewery on site, and they even brew a beer exclusively on-site for the airport, Tony Jannus Pale Ale. The service was spot-on and they had a nice sampler of CCB alongside a Stella and a Bud Light tap. The place is very welcoming and kind of looks like a piece of Ybor City in the airport. A nice novelty overall, but at airport prices. A nice place to enjoy my last CCB beer before a trip. |
