“Small wood finishing bar in New Brunswick. Good service, and friendly. Beer was above average, especially the dark beers. Available in flights or single 4oz pours. Prices decent. Food was OK, average bar fare.“

“Old school brewpub right in the heart of downtown New Brunswick. We came in for earlish dinner, so the place had an older vibe than it probably does once the college kids show up. Beers are solid, food is solid, and well priced. Good portion sizes as well. Solid stop, but not a destination.“

“Spent a couple of hours here after a meeting, at the bar and then at a table on the second floor. Tried only the IPA (The Juice Is Loose) and a friend's pale ale. The IPA was dank, fairly hoppy, and decent. Service on the upper floor was very attentive, even as the place filled up around 6-7. I found the food choices to be fairly wide for a brewpub and very reasonably priced. The pulled pork sandwich with fries and aioli was a very reasonable value for $9, and my friends' selections looked good as well. I hope they broaden their range of brewing styles in the near future, but a very decent spot overall.“

“Good food, really creative hot dogs and other comfort food. Solid beer selection both in bottles and rotating taps. Also great cocktails include occasionally interesting cocktails on tap. Service is excellent. Live music on the weekends. Random bar games in back by the bathrooms.“

“Very nice old school bar with lots of wood, big brass bar and multiple seating areas. Service was good, but not terribly beer focused. A build your own flight available. Menu looked decent but I didn’t eat. Beer is pretty average with the one offs being pretty good. If in the area a nice stop.“

“Standard sports bar vibe with a few older touches. Beer ranges from mediocre to pretty good, with about 8 taps of their house brewed beer available. Bartenders were extremely friendly and service was attentive. Food is good and cheap. Priced are very solid. Worth a stop if you’re in the neighborhood.“

“I really liked this place! Nice sports bar type atmosphere. 9 beers on tap, most were above average. Food was phenomenal! Got the rancher pizza! Yumm! Waitress and patrons were very friendly. I will definitely be a repeat customer.“

“College bar. Young and hip is not my scene, or I may have enjoyed it more. The #300 Sour I had was enjoyable. It is not listed yet, and I don’t have the specific Inc on it to list it.“

“Really nice brewpub in the middle of town. Very easy to find, parking very close. Service was great. The beer selection was also pretty good, with a couple rye-inspired offerings, a double IPA, porter, pale ale and a few others. The food was pretty average, though. My wife had a roast beef sandwich and I had a cheesesteak pizza. The beer quality was pretty good. Harvest Moon is definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area.“

“Restaurant/bar near Harvest Moon. I haven’t eaten here so I can’t comment on the food, but service is good and they usually have a few craft beers on draft. Bottle selection is very small and not anything worth noting.“

“Been here several times but never rated the place...so I took a special trip this past Saturday night. Place has a nice vibe and great decor...college town bars always get a different rating then elsewhere...but I think you can say this place would hold up anywhere. The food is good (don’t miss the French onion soup)...but at the end of the day...we’re here for the beer! Of course they make many styles...but I had to judge from the day I visited...unfortunately they had some lines freeze during the recent cold spell limiting them to only 3 beers. nonetheless...those 3 were very good to great. The Nut Brown Ale (not my style) was very enjoyable..the New Zealand Triple was extremely good...and the Full Moon Pale Ale was also very good. Based on the 2nd two beers alone I’d say a visit here was worth the trip...but of course normally you’ll get to try 5-8 beers...not just 3.“

“A decent pub in New Brunswick NJ near Rutgers University. They had around 8 or so taps. I tried an abbey single, irish stout, pale ale, and IPA which were all middle-of-the-road. Had a soup and salad which was ok. Overall decent beers, not a beer destination, but ok if you’re in the area.“

“This place is in an old and characterful building, with brewing equipment visible at the entrance. Lots of wood all around, and a beutiful copper top bar. Service is slow but friendly. Beers were so so. Parking is challenging, so try the garage around the corner, just follow the signs.“

“Nice casual college hangout...with great food (amazing clazones!) and a very nice beer list. Stopped there recently on the way to a concert at Rutgers. The parking can be difficult at dinner hour or I expect whenever the place is crowded. Thei is very good food and decent prices along with a very nice carftbeer selection. I would highly recommend a visit here when hungry for simple food and thirsty for craftbeer.“

“I am in New Brunswick for work and I chose this bar because it had the best beer selection out of all the places within walking distance from my hotel. It had a good mix of local, East Coast, and West Coast beers. The bartender was very nice, answered all my questions, and offered tastes of the beers I was interested in. He also was very speedy about refilling my water glass. I thought that the ambiance was pleasant. It was cozy and had a nice locals feel. Also, the draft list on their website was up to date, which is very important to me.“

“just a few good taps maybe 12 and some few good bottles maybe 25 at fair prices. nice large marble bar and friendly real bartenders who can make a good drink. i like the 90’s rock in the place thats not too loud. the place is a bit small reminding me of the old time NYC bars. good enough worked on ambiance with some class sprinkled around. i like ecclectic.“

“old two story bar with big old staircase and a moderate room upstairs. more room downstairs and essence of old beer and dive bar. this place makes very good beers that are full of body and flavor. they also make very good food. i recommend the fish taco, the fish and chips and the b.l.t as well as the burgers. pulled into a parking space right up front.“

“If you can manage to find parking here, good for you. Had to park about five blocks away, but managed it alright otherwise. Nice open feeling from the high ceilings, brewing equipment is off to the right as you walk in. Big open feeling due to minimal tables, but the seating around the copper topped bar was more than adequate on a slow Thursday afternoon. Flight here is 8 pours of about four ounces for maybe $10. On tap when I came were two berliner weisses (they did a batch and split it half and half doing half the kegs with some peach in them), a mild, red ale, schwarz, ipa, saison, and a kolsch. Nice variety of styles. Bartender here was great. Super friendly, happy to talk about New Brunswick and the beer scene here, as well as the stuff he liked to drink. I was still full from lunch so I didn’t get food here and only checked out the specials on the board. But they looked promising. Seems like every day there is a soup, quesadilla, and pizza of the day. Day I was there featured Asian chicken and vegetable soup, Chorizo, black beans, grilled corn, scallion and pepper jack cheese quesadilla, and a pizza with portabello, roasted red peppers, goat cheese, mozzarella, and pesto.“

“Located in downtown New Brunswick near Rutgers. I feared parking would be an issue but there is a garage about half a block away on Church St. Not what I was expecting based on the name. Very dark lighting and very dark woods. The staff was competent but disinterested. Probably overworked. The beer sampler was $12 for 7 four ounce pours. It sounded like more pours would still be $12 if they had more on tap, which seems like a pretty lame practice. 6 of the 7 beers were solid, and 1 was pretty horrible. I’d call that a moderate success. The food was pretty tasty (chicken wrap). I’d go back if I were a local, but during the day so I didn’t have to use my phone backlight to get an idea of what color the beers are.“

“Very laid back atmosphere, at least on a Monday afternoon, seemed like it would be a pretty cool place on the evenings as well. All beers were in top shape served in the correct glassware by a friendly but not overly knowledgable waitress. Selection was impressive for a college town pub that seems to specialize in food more than beer. This place is known for their Strombolies and they were fantastic!! I had the pulled pork and loved it. Not very expensive, nothing fancy but right up my alley and if/ when I am in the area again I will go there. A big thanks goes out to Uncle-Cousin Leo for taking us here!“

“Gotta get a boli. Wide selection of toppings and a great selection of brews. Got some rare finds from time to time at this place. Service is decent but try to go when its not packed. College kids make it a lil unorganized at times. Outdoor seating in the summer is preferable.“

“A decent restaurant/bar with one of the better selections of good beer in town. They get some new brews about once a month or so. Over 80 bottles and 12 taps, just wish they had more craft beer on tap.“

“George St. Ale House wasn’t here when I attended Rutgers, so it was completely new to me. It was recommended by a friend as we looked to move from Harvest Moon to another location. It’s pretty trendy inside, but it’s not really cold either. It just has more of a modern feel with lower lighting. The service did also have a bit more of a hipster edge to it to go with the more modern/hipster vibe of GSAH While the selection was good, it sure seemed like GSAH leaned more towards spirits and cocktails. The beer page was only 1 page of bigger type while they had 2 or 3 pages of mixed drinks and cocktails. The beer they did have was extremely good and nothing to sneeze at, but it felt a bit conflicted. GSAH isn’t that cheap. It’s not extremely expensive either. You are getting what you pay for, but it would be nice to have a wider selection then. Since I occasionally come back to visit New Brunswick, I may come here again. I won’t go out of my way though either even with Harvest Moon being right next door“

“Harvest Moon has been a staple in New Brunswick for a good while. It had been a long time since I had left Rutgers until the other day. Harvest Moon hasn’t changed all too much and the set up is still exactly the same as when I had been here years ago. It’s a real good atmosphere that belies it’s being in a college town. It’s a very laid back atmosphere with a nice bar area. The quality of the brews is still pretty good. They aren’t amazing, but on the whole pretty good. The service was usually on point and it was never too much of a problem to get a beer or some food. The selection is mostly focused on their brews as would be expected. They aren’t that deep in other brews but have a good amount of whiskey and some wine selections as well. The food is also very solid. The fries were on the smaller side, but the wrap that I got was very good. Harvest Moon was enjoyable to stop in and remember all the times I had come here when I was in college. It is certainly different from a lot of other rutgers bars, which is not a bad thing at all“

“I stopped by for a few pints and pizza before a Rutgers/UConn game and I recommend this place. It’s a clean, kinda tightly snugged saloon themed place that is set up in an L shape. On a Saturday at 7 PM, there were 4 bartenders on duty who were quick to refill pints with little waiting time. Their beers are OK, nothing to search for, but not bad for a smallish city in NJ. Their bar fare is also OK, nothing mouth watering, but tasty and fairly priced. On a Saturday night, pints were $5, which is comparable for a place like New Brunswick. While this place doesn’t blow anything out of the water, it will certainly be my pre-RAC watering hole whenever I visit Rutgers.“

“It was sort of out of the way when I lived in NB, especially since I lived near all the other college bars at the time, but this place had a special something. The beers are quite good and it was definitely a chill destination. I wish I went stopped by here more often to really get familiarized with all their beers.“

“A mid-major when it comes to bar/restaurant. The food is above average (Boli a staple for any newcomer) and the beer selection is also legitimate. Loved this place when I was a Rutgers student and still stop by if I’m in the New Brunswick area. Taps are clean and the fridge is well stocked with a variety of brews.“

“I lived in New Brunswick for a couple of years and this was one of my go to spots. You can see the brew house as you walk in through very large windows. the feremeting tanks can be seen through smaller window below that show into the basement. They have a decent American food menu, burgers, pizza, sandwiches, etc. The beer is always decent and enjoyable. Lots of style of house beer to choose from. No guest taps. Growlers to go $10. not bad. I always like to stop here whenever I have the chance“

“This is not really a beer destination. Though it’s all relative to what is around. This place has an average selection of craft beer. they have a small bottle selection. I’ve only seen stone ipa and dfh 60 min as their best craft beer. On the other hand their food is pretty good. i’ve only had stromboli’s and they are awesome. don’t go out of your way to come here though.“

“Beer selection is nicely varied, but the overall quality of some of them isn’t that great. Their stouts are delicious, as well as whatever PA or IPA they have on draft. Problem with the place is the size; during the semester at Rutgers the place gets packed and it’s hard to move around which really negates going there for a decent beer.“

“A tried and true classic. There’s not much to add to this place, as it ain’t changing and shouldn’t. The repetoire of beers is very mainstream, but prices are fair and there are a few regional gems (Flying Fish exit series, for example). The ’Bolis are simple and to die for. Staff is experienced. Worth a hit.“

“Overall, I’m mixed about this place. My first experience was piss poor, my second relatively decent. The first time I stopped in here it was filled with a bunch of New Jersey "bros", including the meathead bartender who talked to his friend instead of pouring drinks. The beers were not that great, the atmosphere even less impressive. The second, I went for dinner with colleagues and we sat upstairs near the window, had decent food a few pints, good service, and a nice time. Hit or miss, perhaps.“

“Small little restaurant with good atmosphere- sports on TVs well past midnight, dancing after 12, but nothing too out of control. As far as the beer goes, there were 5 beers on tap when I went and the ones I tasted were quality. Good service, good value, definitely good place to go with friends.“

“Great brew pub in New Brunswick. They make their own beers and everything I’ve had there is above average to excellent. The food is quite good too, though a bit on the pricey side. Sometimes there is a cover charge when they have a live DJ, so if you’re just looking to drink, try to get there on week days.“

“A neat pub right on the main drag right around the corner from Rutgers. A cool walkable town with a mixture of young and old walking around. Definitely a college type of pub place was crowded around dinner on a Friday was lucky to get a seat at the bar. Stopped in for a beer and enjoyed watching the people walk by and they had plenty of TV’s. A decent brew had the Jimmy D’s firehouse red. I would definitely come back here again and try the food, but the Hibachi across the street was calling my name.“

“Stopped in on a Thursday at around 2/3 o’clock. Not very busy at the time so my service was good enough. The sampler of 8 different beers costs $12. The beer itself isn’t great, but if you’re passing through town and want a few cheap ticks, or actually in town for the night and just want a halfway decent pint or two, I’d say it’s worth stopping in. I don’t want to imagine what this place looks like on weekends though, it’s like a 5 minute walk from Rutgers.“
