“Lovely place not all brewpubs have their brewery on the same building. Take the stairs up to the toilets and view the brewery from above, also have a look at their barrel program. Easy to talk to, look for specials on bottles in the fridge. Best selection that I found. Rough neighborhood - fixed by ordering an Uber to the door;). Food looked good!“

“Birthday treat (10th of Feb) from my wife. Tap room, even do brewery is located in suburbs. Great selection of beers, super nice BBQ, order super rare. Wife had really good vegetarian dish. There was a major fuck up in order of the samples, they had served them classic brews and other ones, I asked for to follow the order in the menu. Brewers daughter came by and we had totally new 2 flights. And the waiter showed up was really said - so all in all a great moment. Nice interior, nice local Brazilian music, clean toilets.“

“This is Motin brewry pub. It has 12 taps, 8 of their own beers (ok beers but far from spetacular) and 4 guests (usually pretty good). Great self service direct access to taps! You get a card, add some money value to it and you can pour yourself any beer the amount you please. So you can try all of them in tiny amounts. Small place with few seats inside and some on sidewalk. A few good snacks. In Copacabana, one block from Cardeal Arcoverde subway station.“

“Cool brewpub place short walk from metro stop Botafogo. Safe area. They have 16 taps, 13 were their own, and 3 guests. Diverse selection of styles with a focus on hoppy stuff. Before I came here I had done beers at another place and then had a rather big lunch. I did some walking before I came but still felt quite full, so maybe not ideal conditions for beer tasting. I had one of their own NE Dipas. Well, it was good, but felt super heavy, more in the league of a Triple IPA. I had trouble finishing 300ml, this one wasnt really my thing. I asked the server if they do smaller sizes, he said no, but he also didnt speak much english. I afterwards found a sign saying that they do tasting trays of 4 for 150ml each. Afterwards I wanted to have an Imp Stout by a guest brewery. But that was out. Since I did did not find anything that I fancied I just left. If I had more time in Rio I would have returned for another try. Overall service was good, recommended, but also not the cheapest place.“

“Cool pub a bit outside the city center. 26 taps with a nice selection of Brazilian Craft breweries. Very diverse selection of breweries and also styles (slight preferences to hoppy / stoutish / sour stuff, but enough other styles available). They list prices for 100ml pours, but those tasting sizes are only available if you do a tasting tray of 5. Prices are pretty good (for Brazilian curcumstances). Service was fast and efficient. Beers were in good shape, I had 12 tasters total, only one of those beers tasted old, not sure its the pubs fault. They have some food but I did not eat. There are quite a few other bars on the same street, but in general its a residential area. I walked from the metro (Sao Cristovao station), which was fine but you walk along a busy road which isnt the most pleasant. The guys suggested I walk back to Afonso Pena, which was a lot more pleasant. Felt like a very safe neighbourhood.“

“Deli/liquor kind of place on the second floor of a small shopping center. They have about 60 bottles, mostly (only?) Brazilian micros, bigger selection of Houcs Pocus but also some other stuff. Some beers are uncooled, but it looked like the selection in the cooler is actually bigger, compared to whats outside.. I thought prices are a bit on the higher side.“

“One of those new self service taproom kind of places. The concept is great for tickets, because you can pour however much you want, so also small pours. I have not had many brazilian beers, so everything on tap was new for me, but a local friend of mine told me that he has had most of the beers before. If you do small pours the price is sensational. For 100ml you pay between 4-6 Reais for all the beers (even Double IPAs, and Imp Stouts). I was able to tick 13 beers (50ml each) and initally paid 40 Reais (8 euros), but I still had almost 10 Reais leftover at the time. The system works that way: You give them a creditcard and they put the card into the system and then you can activate the tapline with the creditcard (each tap seems to have an NFC reciever). Not a very good concept security wise (to protect your data), but oh well. I had another one of these pubs before, and they would give you a card of their own. They also wanted to see some id. You actually dont have to pay with card, I paid with cash. They give you a class, you hold the card to the tapline you want to pour and the screen (tablet like thing) shows that the line is activated, while pouring you see the millilitres counting and how much money you have left on the card. You do everything yourself basically, so you dont have to wait for waiters. They also have food, but I did not eat. Overall I love the concept. Recommended stop.“

“Proper beer bar in Ipanema. Solid selection of Brazilian micros makes it appealing, in particular as Rio is a bit lacking in beer culture. Only had a couple of rounds; prices weren’t great but whatever. Well worth the visit.“

“Really don’t get why this places has a good reputation. Service was not close from ok (other costumers cut line in front of me and the hostess just pretended she didn’t see it). They have a good beer menu but usually don’t have much of them in stock. Food is VERY over-evaluated. All they have is greasy fried dumplings and pastry. It’s also on the expensive side.“

“Small bar with a great selection and an increasing amount of taps. Good services, reasonable food but very expensive. What really bugs me about this place is that even though the owners are the importers of several Belgian beers, this exact beers are more expensive in there than in other bars in Rio.“

“Excellent bar in the centre of Lapa. 4-5 fridges full of different beers and one of the few places that actually stocked most of the things on the menu. Double-sided menu with one side domestic and the other international with probably 100 on each side.“

“In the business district so gets very busy at luch/dinner time but seemed popular with locals. Gave me a menu with a huge number of bottled beers but then didn’t have the majority of the stuff I asked for. Even though I was ordering from the Brazilian section there were still entire breweries unavailable despite the menu having 8-12 beers from them listed.“

“Just about the only bar in a Brazil that does’t sell Brahma/Skol/Antarctica as far as I can tell. Extensive beer menu (though strangely omitting anything from Brasserie DuPont + Hoegaarden). Nowhere near the mothership in Brussels though. But there were even bottles of Westvleteren at 150R a pop! About 10 on tap including Chimay and Gouden Carolis when we attended. Prices are similar to Belgian/Bavarian Beer Cafés in Australia (ie. pricey). Serves some beer influenced dishes including mussels cooked in Witbier and fillet mignon in Belgian Dubbel sauce. It is located several blocks away from Ipanema Beach in what looks like a largely residential neighbourhood. Much more sedate than the Belgian counterpart. Lots of beer memorabilia on the walls. Service was adequate without suggesting any beer specific knowledge.“

“Not sure where this has gone, seems to be a bar called "Rayz" and was in the process of continued construction when I called in. Stocked a small selection of local micro beers. Perhaps Devassa has moved, more infor needed. Have given an average score etc.“

“Not too bad a beer selection. Good, but expensive range of local beers, some prices quite steep indeed. Service wasn’t brilliant and a lot of the selection seemed to conveniently go missing when requested. Like to add a whopping charge for service event though I was sat directly at the bar and had to keep interrupting one of staff from picking their nose to get some attention. Far too many staff really for the size and it would be better served by less more knowledgeable staff instead of the current set-up. Perhaps that’s just a Rio thing where places are just filled to the gunnels with poor staff? Some room for improvement especially in the service area.“

“Pretty nice brewpub with decent selection of their home brews. I missed IPA, of course, but other beers were good enough for being pleased. “It is what it is, really, in that it’s a slightly more ’upper class’ (brand of) supermarket with many international imports and a decent range of more local ’craft’ offerings at a reasonable price. Pick up the likes of Colorado, Eisenbahn, Baden Baden and St. Gallen for the latter, Shepherd Neame and popular German brews for the former. Not a hotspot by any means but you can certainly pick up something decent for drinking back at the hotel and there are several others dotted about Rio.“
