“Stayed in the Airbnb right next door and went to a live music event. There are beers at the upstairs bar in the event venue, but the selection is better at the pub downstairs, and you can take beers from either bar into the music venue. One Dundalk Bay IPA and a handful of other beers from local breweries. Friendly young staff and plenty of 420. Solid place, and I'm glad I didn't have far to walk to reach my bed.“

“Friendly place with lively discussion and debates going on. Two bars, two rooms. A dozen or so beers on offer, half of them craft. Good live music in the evening. Worth a stop.“

“Very friendly place, modern restaurant sort of vibe with a very long bar. Just one interesting beer, a Brehon IPA that was delicious. Bunch of other pubs nearby might be better choices.“

“Taproom is just beside the old mill, very picturesque with a nice walking path around it. Taproom has a small serving bar and two rooms of restaurant tables plus some covered picnic tables outside. Staff were overwhelmed despite the place being about a quarter full. Six beers on offer plus pizza and other pub food. Worth a visit if not busy.“

“Finally got round to visiting on Friday 13th September 2019 around 1630. Nice location overlooking the quayside and the Cooley mountains, right on the edge of Dundalk but still only a 15-20 minute walk to the town centre. The venue, which host live music and comedy, is a 2 room/2 bar affair but early evening only the front bar was open and I got the impression the beer taps in the rear may have been for show? A crowd of locals steadily built up in the hour or so I was there. Beer wise there were a few Trouble brewing, a Brehon and a Galway Bay on tap and .... a Brehon cask ! Yup ... real ale in Dundalk ... who knew? Add to that an ok selection of bottles with largely Belgian staples plus a few more Irish micros. Overall well worth a visit if in Dundalk, especially on a fine day when you can sit outside and soak up the views !“

“Visited a number of times over the years, normally for pre-dinner drinks, but now worth adding to RB from my lunchtime visit on Saturday 22/09/18. Longish but narrow bar/restaurant just opposite St Patricks cathedral. The place was busy with families having lunch. 4 taps of note on my visit, allied to the usual macro taps. Dundalk Bay IPA, 2 Brehon offerings, plus a craft cider from Dan Kellys. Service is to the table and very expedient ... we enjoyed a good lunch in the form of the house special, an open topped focaccia with chicken breast and mozarella melted. Decent. Overall definately worth sticking your head in for a few ticks if in Dundalk.“

“Revisit in September 2018. Craft beer range has ramped up somewhat .. plenty from Irish brewers such as O'Brother and Boyne to name a couple plus more English offerings. I picked up a dozen new rates and likely could have had another dozen. Plenty of offers on the craft stuff ... 3 for E10, 4 for E10 etc ... starting to rival Callans but not quite there. Visited on a few occasions in 2015/16. Standard Tesco store about .75 miles south of the centre of Dundalk. Decent enough offerings from various mid size irish micros plus a larger players from England and Europe. I picked up a few ticks here so worth popping in if in the town and most certainly if Callans is closed.“

“Revisit in September '18 ... no score update ... couple of bottles and a tap from Brehon as before, also a Dundalk Bay beer on tap. Food excellent as always ... potato gratin to die for ... worth popping by. Located on the old Dublin road in Dundalk, not too far from the railway station and the Marshes shopping centre, the Windsor is a prominent two storey boozer dating back to Victorian times. I’ve visited here a few times over the years for food, always fresh and generous in the portion size, plus a good pint of Guinness to boot. The reason I’ve added it to the RB database is they have recently started stocking ’craft’ beer in the form of bottles, a few from O’Hara and also a bottle from the Brehon Brewhouse in nearby Carrickmacross (no beers from them on the database until I entered one from my visit). A well appointed interior featuring a rather grand central staircase to the upper floor which resembles a library surrounded by many bookshelves - genuine ones too, not a JDW buy in a fake case lot! Service at this family run boozer always prompt and friendly.“

“Revisit in September 2018 ... has upped its game massivey and Dundalk now has a solid bar for some craft ticks ! A good 15 or 16 on tap including 7 or 8 Irish offerings from the likes of White Hag, Yellow Belly and Galway Bay ... added to that some Belgian taps and 3 or 4 Lagunitas. Service was prompt and friendy and unfortunately we only had 45 minutes so not enough time to even consider the 50 to 60 bottles/cans in the fridges. I'll definately be back here next time I'm in Dundalk. Was 54/100 Now ... 74! Visited here in the summer of 2010. Had been aware of this venue for a few years but hadn’t got round to visiting. It seems the beer range/choice had gone downhill compared to a few years earlier. There were 2 redundant cask lines evident. There was however one non macro tap stout available - Carlow O’Haras which is probably the only one I’ve seen in Dundalk over the last 5 years or so! Also (see availability) some bottled beers that aren’t the standard macro crap. Bar itself is a trad irish style town centre affair with plenty of bric a brac and largely wooden seating/tables. Visited around 9pm on a Saturday and we just squeezed into the last table going. Quite a noisy bar with a younger crowd. A doorman had appeared outside by the time we left. For Dundalk - as good as it gets in terms of something other than macro!“
