Calisky (5256) - ALSACE, FRANCE - MAR 29, 2024
UPDATED: MAR 29, 2024 Gush a l'ouverture Belle ambrée, très forte mousse. Bon nez caramel et malté blé. Gout caramel, un peu brulé, bien amer puis malté blé. Pas trop mal, par contre rien coté algues.

UPDATED: JUL 18, 2022 330ml bottle @ Quarry tasting, July 22. Thanks Jeremy for bringing this back from your travels. Misty amber appearance, off white head. Sweet caramel is quite prominent, not really picking up any seaweed but it's has quite a nice tripelly yeasty character. I think we all agreed it came across more like a Belgian tripel than a French ambree.

UPDATED: JUL 18, 2022 33cl bottle: BB December 2023. Quarry Tasting on 17th July 2022. Brought by me and split four ways. Deep amber body, slight haze; beige topping. Sweet and malty, no 'seaweed'. At a blind tasting I would have said it was a sweet Belgian Tripel.

Toasted malts with sweet notes too much present, even weird. Sweetness eclipses the end notes: salty and spicy. Tiresome

Ugly murky body and fizzy instable head. Worty, sweet, brown sugar, cake. Don’t get algae, but perhaps for the better. Lower than expected taste. Bit Christmassy. Not very well made but I strangely enjoy the sweetness. (33cl bottle from a biomarche in Neuilly)

Did not enjoy this. Sickening sweet malt flavors. Heavy, not refreshing at all. Will never drink this again.

zacgillbanks (9101) - Tyne & Wear, ENGLAND - AUG 3, 2014
Bottle from La Trinitaine, Dinan, Brittany, France. Cloudy dark amber-brown coloured with rich red fruit and currant flavours, slight burnt toffee notes and salt and warmth on the finish. Very nice and quite unusual.

ogivlado (16711) - Zagreb, CROATIA - NOV 9, 2012
Bottled 330ml. -from Le Bio d’Adam et Eve, Paris. Dark golden/amber coloured, big off-white head, quite sugary nose. Sweet malty, yeasty and sugary with notes of vegetables (seaweed?) and mild spices. Heavy sticky sweetness in the finish. One-dimensional and a way too expensive (5.50€). 6.5%ABV

33 cl bottle from weird bio store on Rue Monge. Smells sweet, like sushi, but not in a bad way, except that it’s beer. Lots and lots of foam. And weird floaty stuff. I am ascared. Tastes like apples and nori. It’s not bad if you aren’t freaked out. Very smooth. I just wish I could not freak out. I guess it’s different.
