Happy Accident Fruit Ale Severe Drought, we shared the farmer’s horror as Wisconsin’s cherry crop failed! Dan bought what cherries he could. The apple crop fared better. Then joy! A grand Wisconsin cranberry harvest. What will Dan brew with Apples, Cranberries and Cherries? Oh my! You hold the happy accident of Wisconsin’s favorite fruit aged in oak with an almost magical wild fermentation. Serendipity is a wondrous celebration that sparkles your senses and dances across your palate. A kaleidoscope of flavors discovered by accident in a sour ale! Cheers to the unexpected. Vielen Dank!

UPDATED: JUN 6, 2022 It blows me away that I’ve never entered a rating for this beer hahaha. Pours a deep reddish brown with a big head & good lacing on the glass. The first whiff is apples, like almost straight up apple juice… but as it sits the cherry & the mild funk start to dominate the bouquet. The flavor is quite tart & honestly this bottle is far less sweet than I remember the 750ml bottles were when this first came out. It does have a ton of berry & apple flavor but hangs onto a mild oak & mildly sour flavor. A cool beer, I think this bottle is a few years old, so this review may be more indicative of an aged serendipity bottle, that said it certainly seems worthy of aging if that’s the case.

UPDATED: OCT 21, 2021 25 oz bottle 10/20/21 (Gift Pack at New Glarus) 42° in Tulip. Pours a deep ruby with a small covering for a head. Aroma of fruit punch. Taste of apple, cranberry and cherry. This light bodied brew has a bunch of flavors but not much sourness but still rocks.

hauxe (4014) - Butzbach, GERMANY - SEP 6, 2021
UPDATED: SEP 6, 2021 Bottle courtesy of Virby44. Auburn with a frothy head of modest duration. The cherries carry the aroma, very intense, although the apple cider is just underneath. Taste is apple juice sweet with a long, cranberry tartness. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation. Not exactly refreshing, anything so cherry infused verges easily into medicinal for my taste. A touch too sweet. Addictive though.

UPDATED: JUL 14, 2019 12oz bottle at home, trade from MN. Attractive deep ruby pour with a thin, dissipating white head. Intense berry and apple aromas and flavors, with more tart berry fruit and earth coming after. Light carb and body. Lip-smacking, mouth-watering fruited finish. So good.

tfontana (5620) - Fremont, New Hampshire, USA - MAY 10, 2019
UPDATED: MAY 10, 2019 Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from Fresh Thyme, Milwaukee. Appearance is clear ruby red with slight orange tint, decent lazy sparkle, ephemeral fizzy cap of beige head and no lacing. Aroma is alternating sweet cherry and tart fruit. Taste is strong dominant sweet cherry over moderately strong tart fruit. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with thin texture, soft-to-average carbonation and finish as taste that makes the sides of my mouth pucker! Overall, nothing 'beery' except the fruit but aromas/flavors are strong and the brewer manages to keep a sweet beer from being too sweet or a tart beer from being too sour by balancing them out. No easy feat. Props.

UPDATED: JAN 12, 2019 Color is dark brown and a deep amber when held up to the light, with a light tan head. It’s a bit hazy. Little messy lacing. Aroma is amazing. So fruity- rich cherries overwhelm with a bit of apple cider. Flavor is sweet, fruity, with just a slight tartness. The cherry and apple are so strong and delicious. Not fake and sugary. Overall- awesome! 750ml bottle. Not sure of a date, but the code says 20320 212372B (or 26326... hard to see) with black wax. It’s at least 1 year old because I’ve saved it myself since December 2017.

balloonbuffoon (1125) - - NOV 29, 2018
UPDATED: NOV 29, 2018 12floz bottle, no date found, $3 single, poured into a large stem glass, where it appears a tawny red-brown color with head that quickly subsides. Smells something like fruit punch, and when tasted apple and cherry flavors duel for supremacy. Apple wins out in the end as it leaves a greater impression. This is a sweet beer that one can have as dessert.

pkbites (1476) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 15, 2018
Meh. Lovely color and nice fruity aroma. But there is too much sweetness to this. There is a lot going on with cranberries, raspberries, apple and a hint of cinnamon. I had a 14 ouncer on tap @ 3 Cellars in Franklin, Wisconsin. That's much too much of this and it got sickening tasting real fast. Only good in small doses.
