COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Quaff Bros Sour Grapes Bourbon Barreled Ale is an American Brown Ale (like Brown Chicken Brown Cow) aged in Four Roses barrels, but to our surprise and enthusiastic glee, the beer turned on us and soured naturally. We felt that this new creation needed a touch of fruit. This manipulation occurred in the rarest of forms as the decision was made to insert Sangiovese grape juice hailing from the bottom of the world in Chile. Brewed at Listermann Brewing Co.

750ml bottle pours a murky, deep amber with a ring of white head. Nose has an interesting mix of muddled berry, mild whiskey, booze, caramel, a bit jammy, malt base, mild malt vinegar, some lime juice. Flavor has a neat blend of grapes, jammy berries, mild vinegar, a little booze, some wood notes, some cooked greens. Full bodied, tart finish. Interesting.

Tasted on 2/8/14 from a bottle after the RBWG Grand Tasting at the Downtown Inn tasting. Pours clear dark caramel brown with a thin, spotty beige head that leaves a thin collar of lace. The nose is sour and fruity with plenty of maple and caramel bourbon. The flavor is sour and fruity up front, moving to the sweeter bourbon and malt notes on the back. The body is medium with just lower than average carbonation and a long sour and bourbon finish.

Sample @ RBWG Asheville After Party. Brown pour with a small head. Red berry coulis and a bit of lemon funk. I have the taste listed as ‘panties’ in my notes (it had been a long day). Interesting. Some more red berry. Simple, but not unenjoyable.

Bottle at the RBWG 2014 grand tasting, thanks! Pours a clear deep amber with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has lots of tart grapes with sweet grains and bourbon coming through. Flavor is similar with tart grapes and sweet grain as well as a touch of bourbon in the finish.
