UPDATED: DEC 28, 2022 Bottled. Deep amber colour with a mediumsized white head. Aroma is ripe fruits, apricot, some slight alcohol with a bit of wooden elements. Flavour is apricot marmalade, some raisins, caramel, mild alcohol with some wood and red wine tones to it. Somewhat dry palate, but quite much on the sweet side of things. Nice one!

UPDATED: FEB 16, 2021 From bottle at home. Light hazy dark copper brown color with beige head. These is a strange aroma that I can’t distinguish but apart from this the aroma is malty, lot’s of caramel, dark dried fruits, raisins, licorice. Heavy sweet taste, better than the aroma, nothing strange here, same like the aroma (without that strange thing) with honey addition and citrus notes too. Medium to full silky oily body with soft carbonation.

Bottle, courtesy of koelschtrinker, thanks! Pours unclear brown. Aroma is red wine, caramel, toasted malts, booze. Body is heavy and strong, red wine barrel, grapes, over typical strong barley wine characters. Intense but surprisingly easy to drink. Very good!

Bottle. Amber color with beige head. Aroma is honey, raisins, lightly oxidized. Taste is raisins, caramel, raisin juice, and super meady in the back. Oily mouthfeel with fine-bubbled carbonation.

Aus der Flasche (bottled 2013-01-28) am 2015-11 getrunken. Grandioses Feuerwerk zum Ende des Abends. Der fruchtige Einfluß des Bordeaux mit den fetten, süßlichen Barley Wine Noten sind einfach ein Traum.

Intense caramel, dark molasses, sweet grain malts, sweet, candied, dark fruits, prunes, dark berries, dark, toasted malts. Slightly hazy brown, tiny, creamy, beige head. Heavy sweet. Massive sweet caramel, dark, sweet malts, candied fruits, prunes, apricots, soft carbonation, full bodied. Outstanding, rich intense, complex and very nicely balanced. Bottle shared at Bodney Road, 23/10/2017. Huge thanks to Kenny for this one. A clear copper amber coloured pour with a loose beuge head. Aroma is toffee, brown sugars, mellow booze, jammy grape. Flavour is composed of medium sweet, jammy fruit, strawberry, brown toffee, sherry, strawberry. Palate is medium sweet, moderate carboantion chewy. . Lingering sweet chewy jammy fruits.

Bottle shared in Hackney - many thanks to Danny. Pours clear amber with a small, foamy head. Meaty aroma, lots of jammy fruits, berries, dates, fruitcake. Hugely sweet flavour, more meaty, ripe berries, sugary fruitcake, dates and figs. Big bodied, oily and chewy, with fine carbonation. Warming finish, lots more sugary ripe fruit character, fruitcake, meaty caramel. Enormous beer. Good fun.

Rötlich-bräunliche Farbe mit kleiner, weißer Schaumkrone. Prägnanter Geruch nach süßem Malz und Trockenobst. Der Geschmack zeigt Malz, Karamell, Kandiszucker, alkoholumhüllte Früchte und schwache Hopfenimpulse. Sehr kraftvoll und dabei doch gut ausbalanciert. Gefällt mir sehr gut.

Red color, minimal white head. Aromas of syrup, honey, caramel, candy sugar and raisins. Ridiculously sweet taste with syrup, sugar and honey. Unbalanced sweet mess. Poured out the remainder. 7-4-3-2-9.
