"Soho Dandy" Typical English bitter. Recipe is 2012 winner of Latvian independant homebrewers competition. BlackHaddock (15522) - The County Time Forgot, Shropshire, ENGLAND - NOV 23, 2023
UPDATED: NOV 23, 2023 500ml bottle shared by Martinsh at the Latvia Day Tasting in Crewe on 18th November 2023. Didn't expect an English style 'Best Bitter' today. This was really interesting and I enjoyed it. Slight haze to the light mahogany body, wisp for a head. Malty front with a caramel sweetness tempered with a subtle hop bitterness, nice.

Martinsh (2867) - Crewe, Cheshire, ENGLAND - NOV 19, 2023
UPDATED: NOV 19, 2023 Bottle ordered from Craft Beer Station, Northampton – drank (shared) at Latvian Independence Day celebration at Ebenezers, Crewe. Pours a hazy deep chestnut with minimal off-white head. Not much of an aroma – merely some general maltiness. Malts a bit more pronounced in the mouth, where there are also some hints of traditional hops and underlying caramel. Finish is slightly fruity. A reasonable approximation of an English bitter.

snowcrash000 (2281) - Cologne, GERMANY - SEP 1, 2023
UPDATED: SEP 1, 2023 Pours a cloudy, reddish mahogany coloration with a small, fluffy head. Smells of bready, caramel malt and herbal, earthy hops, with a certain honey accent as well. Taste is a great balance of bready, caramel malt and herbal, earthy, slightly fruity and spicy hops, with notes of rosemary, subtle tropical fruit and peppery spice, as well as just a hint of honey. Finishes with a light/medium bitterness and some caramel malt, earthy hops and hints of honey lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation. Although Galaxy hops certainly are an odd choice for the style, this makes for a really nice example of it anyway since the Goldings are clearly dominating here, with Galaxy only adding very subtle tropical accents and the herbal, earthy, spicy notes from Goldings coming though a lot stronger. One kinda has to wonder why bother using the Galaxy hops at all then, although I suppose that even those very subtle tropical accents do add an interesting twist on the traditional take on the style here, while this still firmly holds true to those traditional roots. Very nive balance of malt and hops, sweetness and bitterness as well.

UPDATED: DEC 20, 2022 0,5 bottle at Two More Beers with Snegurochka 221219. One of 12+ bottled Labietis beers for selection. Impressive! Slightly hazy dark orange or apricot body with a tall lightly off-white head that leaves quite beautiful lacing. Looks good in the glass! Aroma and taste is as expected if you expected a Labietis take on an the English bitter: Smooth caramel malts combined with the bitterness and zest of fruity hops. Notes of yeast as well. Quite long taste, helped along by a very decent mouthfeel. Perhaps packs more of a bit more of a punch than your average bitter but still true to the tradition. A pleasurable and very drinkable brew that makes the most out of its relatively low alcohol content. Labietis - once again - leaves you satisfied.

UPDATED: JUL 27, 2022 Bottled 500ml (bought in Latvia)
Pale amber colour, active carbo makes a big off-white head and lace. English earthy hops with caramalt in the nose. Light-bodied. Sweetish bitter, caramalt, even touch of honey, some English hops. Probably yeast has made some tricks here but drinkable.
