Bottle thanks to Will. Pours a clear orange with small off white head. The aroma is brett, oak, funk, fruit. Thin mouth, similar flavors to nose, light tartness, very good.

Draft pour at Snallygaster 2014. Poured a ruby brown color with a small off-white head. Aroma was notes of light tart vinegar notes, funky yeast notes, some oak notes. Flavor was fruity, oak notes, with light barrel and smooth booze notes. Girlfriend liked this one a lot.

On tap at Barcade Jersey City. Beautiful sour brown from Smutty. Big sour aroma with noticeable oak in the finish. This is their finest effort to date for sure. Yet another example of how we do European styles better here in the USA. Thank you, may I have another?

bottleforager (3211) - Gray, Maine, USA - AUG 13, 2014
Pours a rusty sienna color with a touch of haze and a finger plus of eggshell foam. Nose is strawberry fruit roll up, cherry, berry, juicy fruit with some deeper dusty funk, whiskey hints and round malt creeping through. Palate isn’t quite as fruit forward as expected. Nice balance between malt, tartness level and some musky funk. Basement mushroom, vinous grape, some round caramel that is accentuated by the whiskey aging. Lingering earthy tea like quality.

Bottle.
Appearance: Hazy reddish/amber body with a short light tan head that quickly dissipates.
Aroma: Tart cherry is vibrant, hint of bubblegum, bready malts and caramel. Even slighter tinge of oak.
Taste: Bright tart cherry with hints of bubblegum. Mildly malty finish with caramel, hints of oak and a dash of bourbon.
Palate: Medium bodied, moderately high carbonation.
Overall: Very great beer, I love the tartness level and balance. No real sign of bourbon, but very drinkable.

Surprisingly good beer. Pours Amber color with little heAd. Aroma is wet oak, fruit, funk, and sweet bread. Taste is tart and quite sweet with good barrel notes. If it was less sweet it would be great.
