UPDATED: FEB 11, 2024 330ml bottle at Trappist tasting. pale golden pour with a small, soft white head. Bready, biscuity aaroma with some savory notes. Taste is malty, fruity, yeasty with light floral accents. very smooth and light.

UPDATED: FEB 10, 2024 330ml bottle pours out golden topped with a white head. Nose is nice sweet bread malts and a great spice. Taste is more of the nice spice yeast a great end. This is probably the best of the bunch.

UPDATED: JUL 2, 2023 Hell orange Farbe, deutliche Trübung. Aromatisch, leicht süßlich in der Nase. Beim Trinken ist nicht mehr so viel Süße vorhanden. Hier kommt es ein ganzes Stück trockener rüber. Deutliche Spuren von Sekt und etwas dezenter von Kräutern/Gewürzen (insbesondere Koriander - obwohl der gar nicht enthalten ist). Fruchtnoten erkennbar (hier sticht am stärksten getrocknete Aprikose raus). Ein Hauch von Nadelbaumharz fliegt kurz vorbei. Nicht uninteressant. Das Trappistenkloster in Engelhartszell war das letzte seiner Art im deutschsprachigen Raum. Im Mai 2023 wurde die Schließung bekanntgegeben. Angeblich soll die Brauerei weitergeführt werden - aber darauf würde ich mich nicht unbedingt verlassen. Also lieber JETZT noch dieses Bier verkosten - vielleicht ist es sonst zu spät.

Taste; hops, herbs, fruit, peel, yeast, pale caranel malts and a balanced finish. Feeling; normal body and average co². Generally; golden blonde ale. [bottle of 33 cl @ Alko 2022]

UPDATED: APR 4, 2023 330ml Bottle from Beers of Europe Webshop, King's Lynn, Norfolk. Hazy golden coloured with a huge white head of foam. It has a spicy fruity, toffee and floral flavour with grassy notes, vanilla and more spicy floral notes on the smooth finish. Good.

UPDATED: FEB 13, 2023 Si l'on considère son titrage à 5,5 %, cette trappiste fait honneur à sa lignée avec de jolis arômes et une présence très honorable. Avec un tel alcool, difficile toutefois d'avoir une bière tonitruante et celle-ci pêche quelque peu en vivacité. Le visuel est sur un blond orangé voilé avec une fine effervescence et une mousse peinant à napper la surface. Le nez est sur une alliance appréciable de blé, d'orange amère un peu rance, de pêche et de légères épices. Sur l'attaque, l'amertume donne une légère vivacité avec des épices un peu plus présentes. La deuxième ne présente pas d'évolution aromatique avec une complexité honorable toutefois. Si la présence en bouche est plutôt bonne, l'alcool commence à faiblir. Le final décroît vite en étant de plus relativement simple. Une trappiste honorable.

UPDATED: DEC 15, 2022 Im 15. Türchen des Bier Adventskalenders 2021 Edition Österreich ist das Nivard. Als Trappistenbier bezeichnet, ist es aber ein Blonde. Es kommt vom Stift Engelszell in Österreich. Der Stift ist das einzige Trappistenkloster in Österreich bzw. im deutschsprachigen Raum. Es wird auch eine Schweigeklausur angeboten – die ich manchen Bekannten dringend empfehlen würde! Zurück zum Bier: Die Nase merkt deutliche Säure, danach kommt die Hefe, bei der ich aber nicht den typischen Pfirsicheindruck empfinde. Die Farbe ist goldorange trüb. Beim Antrunk zu sauer für den Bierstil mit guter Rezenz und Mostaromen. Dabei insgesamt trocken. Beim Abgang auch Bitterkeit von den Hopfensorten Magnum, Aurora und Saphir aus dem Mühlviertel in Österreich, die auch zu 27 Bittereinheiten führen. Bisher für mich das schwächste Blonde, auf dem Trappist steht. 12-2021

UPDATED: NOV 4, 2022 Rocky white head left a spotty cover on an unclear amber coloured body. Malt & spiced fruit aroma. Medium bodied, smooth with a soft clothing back. Raisin, malt, sweet citrus & stone fruit tastes with a tangy finish. All mixed up.

UPDATED: OCT 22, 2022 Tap in a Trappiste bowl at Tap house Munich. Cloudy amber, thick cream colored cream. Dry minerals and spice in the nose, medium dry body, banana and cream mouthfeel, Half and half between Bavarian Weisse and Belgian dubbel notes. Texture wise the most satisfying in a long while.
